I dont care if its US made or anywhere else as long as you stand behind the product and its quality. Hell i dont even understand why so much americans have such a strong "USA made" preference. Im from the Holland and dont care if something is "made in the Netherlands". Could be my lack of patriotism or something......

ps And if it IS being made in Italy and shipped to dealers right from the factory, it saves me money and perhaps a week orso shipping time :)

I would really REALLY like to have the knife made in the USA. I love this country and really would prefer to support it rather then any other country out there.

Now that being said over the last couple of years I have learned to respect and count on your's and Mike's judgement. I have also learned that you will bring us the highest quality you can and you will not budge when it comes to things like quality, simplicity, and its ability to work when others will fail you. I also understand that sometimes you have to be flexible and if you can't find somebody to do it here then you have to look elsewhere. I believe that if you can get one of the best makers in the industry to make it for you, then do it, even if this does mean going outside the USA. Why settle for less if all you have to do is go to Italy for it?

So yes I would trust your judgement and buy and carry an Italian made folder as long as it was up to your standards.

I would buy it absolutly..

the only down side for us canadian is the deal we made in 1987 with the US "Accord de libre échange". A knife sold in the US and made from non-US soil will be a lot pricier. wont stop me, could stop some with lighter wallet.

If the cost and quality were the identical, I'd lean American Made (or Idaho:D ). That's not always possible, I know, so as long as the company is reputable and doesn't employ shady operators in foreign lands, I'm good with it.

By "shady operators" I'm limiting this to the manufacturing of the knife, not what the makers do after dark on foreign soil

Absolutely! I would prefer to suport an American maker, but if you (Mike/Jeff) give the product your blessings then I will certainly add it to my ESSE collection.
Cheers

Echoing others, I prefer US made goods. But I also realize that in specialized items, sometimes the best work is from overseas. Lion steel seems good. I just don't like undercutting or sweatshops, and that doesn't seem to be the case here.

i carry a rat1 now, it was taiwan made. i have no problems with it. so yes, i would buy if made from outside the US. i wouldnt expect you to put your name on anything that was not a quality product. overall i did like the price point of the rat1 as well. seems to be as sturdy as any kershaw i had carried.

I voted yes for the same reasons others have already stated. If you back it, I'll trust it.

Will you keep the options open to move it back to the US if you're able to later find someone that fits your criteria?

I like to buy USA made. I hope you guys stick to the US as much as possible. Last I checked my pocket folder said Seki-City Japan. I don't see much difference between Japan and Italy. Either way they picked the wrong side of WWII, and either way if they can make a quality knife I will consider purchasing it.

God bless,
Adam

EDIT: Does this mean they won't have "Idaho Made" stamped on the slabs?

I would prefer it made in the USA but with today's global economy and the quality coming out of some of these "other" country's I would still buy it if it carried the ESEE name, quality control and unwavering customer service.

From an economic standpoint, the US makes the most sense for you guys, my personal philosophy is allied/like-minded countries, which Italy falls under. Which is why I voted yes.

Again. we have 7 people so far that voted no but none of them have posted up their reason. It's not like someone is going to murder you for voting no. :D We are truly interested in the reason a person votes the way they do. It helps us make a better product for our customer. So, all you "no" voters please post up.
