As a little side note...while the USA has not grown any in the industrial sector. We have grown like crazy in others such as technology... Did you also know it happens to pay well.

Yes, technology is the science of getting rid of as many workers as you can.

Think Automated production lines, the U-scan at the grocery store, lowe's, home depot, etc... I don't use those things if I have a choice.

IOW, fewer people work to replace jobs. I know alot of good comes from technology but it has costs us alot as well.

We haven't exhausted all opportunities but gettin' close. With that said, we are holding firm that the Izula folder will be built in the USA. Even if it gets built one at a time and cost a 1000 bucks each! The Izula just has to be made here. Not sure why, but it does :) That's the folder we want Rowen to make and no one else.
I will probably skip the 3-Folder and wait for the Izula, then.
Re-reading your website definitely changes how I feel about the decision to move production overseas.

Yeah, but pride is a funny thing. It doesn't always go hand-in-hand with production quality. I'm not saying that an ESEE folder coming out of the States is gonna be a piece of crap (or that it's gonna be so amazing I that poop my pants). I guess that ESEE has to really look at their business model and figure out how many knives they want to sell and to whom.

For my part I want a tough, well-built folder that comes in under $200. That's my personal tipping point. As much pride as I would have owning something Idaho-made I can't justify spending that much money with the possibility of it getting lost or stolen.

I trust ESEE's quality history and I'm sure your making the best choice available to your standards-so yup I'd buy it.

No

The one thing that would almost guarantee I buy a ESEE folder would be a Made in USA stamp on it.

I have a lot of knives, I don't really need more of them. However I would purchase one to support a USA made philosophy.

All,

Mike and I are going to be away from the forum and only checking in every so often, on our way to SHOT. PLEASE do not let this thread turn into a debate becasue it will be locked and the purpsoe of letting someone speak their mind in this issue will be lost. I don't care how passionate you are, simply state you opinion and don't step on others. If you can't do that, then find another forum to haunt or we will simply lock this thread and not take anyone's opinion seriously who decided to wear their heart on their sleeve ;)

I am on the fence with this as are many others. I always try to buy USA made products first and foremost. But if I am unable to find a product made in the USA I will then begin to research and find other products that fit my criteria. If they are top notch in quality and dependability I do not mind purchasing the item(s).

I am torn on this subject and I really cannot decide. I do appreciate you all being honest with us and asking for our opinion(s). It really does show that you all care what your customers think. It's way better than you all touting that you are an American company and then being discrete on where your product is made.

I also wouldn't ask for anyone to change or compromise their beliefs/philosophy; look where that philosophy has taken you. Also you have to think whether or not this will lead to other changes or compromises in your philosophy?

I'd still buy an ESEE folder made in Italy. The country selection plays a big role for me. I'd buy from Japan (Seki, specifically), Italy (Lion Steel), and depending on the company and price, maybe Taiwan (mostly because I'm a SOG Knives fan, too). China is right out for me.

Oh, and to clarify, Made in the USA is always my first choice.

i ordered a HEST/F so i have no problem with Lion Steel, or quality products made in Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany or other countries known for quality design and production of whatever it is.

China or Thailand. not so great.

Japan or Taiwan, depends on the item, sometimes great, sometimes not so great... but some Taiwan tools are a great value for the price

i LOVE me some American made products... but you';re usually gonna pay extra for it. sometimes there's no doubt it's worth it, other things i need to be a little more frugal bout and consider if whatever i'm buying warrants the cost of buying a "boutique grade" US made item, when a foreign made one can often get the job done for a lesser cost, just sometimes not be as light, strong, well made or have as nice a finish.

supporting american jobs is one of the big reasons i like ESEE... but its not the only reason, the integrity you guys show personally and in your business is superb. if you feel the best option is in Italy then so be it. I trust you guys regardless of where the blade is built.

Me too. But if no Usa co will make them. I will buy Lion steel

I have just voted YES.
I hope that it will be possible to get one direct from Maniago becouse I would recieve it in two days :) ...with one of theirs coming-soon black/black aluminium SR-1 as soon as possible but this is for another forum right!?

I would probably buy it but with the "Made in USA" on the knife it would be better.

Because...?

Do you cut things with words?
Do words help you baton better?
Do words impart magical properties to the steel?
