Since your mentioning the dogs- are the GWHP or drathar (I think) really hyper? I always wanted but wife says they are to hyper. I have a lab which I love but wanted someone else's opinion.

In the books they will tell you a GWP is calmer in the house then a GSP. I have the complete opposite my gsp in the house can sleep all day my gwp is awake all day but she is only 8 months so I expect her to calm down a little bit. As long as you like hiking you will love either of these dogs . I do at least a three mile trail twice a week in hilly terrain. They're running the whole time and love to chase deer . Days in between hiking days, play some frisbee for a half hour and they will be fine (non hyper) in your house. Think of them as super athletic labs . That's what they remind me of anyway. Oh yeah, swimming really saps there hyperness to. I say get one you won't be dissapointed .If you follow excercise regimen ....

Amen to that. These dogs will rip you apart without proper exersize.

Below is Ku, car-side, running at 60km an hour (I'd bet my life there, no bull-shit, this dog runs upwards of 40mph) . We unleash'm later down the road. Every day, drove him for hours on end, damn thing has some sort of nuclear-powered core.

This is on our family's farm in Poland, 300+acres. No doubt this dog has a good playground.

It's no joke how much energy they have. We have some property on the river and go there every weekend during the summer. Out short-hair will swim from sun up to sun down. They're also the biggest goofs you've ever seen. He punks his little 9 pound sister, rat terrier. She'll finally snap and attack his face, and he just lays there and cries. It's so funny to watch.

But then when he's in the house, he totally just relaxes and lays around.

We're big fans of the breed.
