:D Sometimes he does.

It would take me another hour to extend the gif, but he gets out of the creek on the other side, turns around and jumps back, every time.

P.S.- If he wanted to clear it, he would lift his butt up near the end, it would be a totally different form of jump.
Sort of like a horse jumping a fence.
