Thinking about ordering a Junglas II as I already have the original Junglas. I'm more of a collector I guess so why not right? 😁 What do you all think of the overall size in hand and use etc. etc.?

Full disclosure, my ODC makes me buy multiples of knives that I like.

The Lazer Strike with TKC scales was my wife’s gift to me for Christmas. I’ll be carrying that one in the backpack that I carry with me, aka my man purse, along with the black Candiru that already lives there.

The 4 lives in my truck attached to my get home bag along with the stainless Izula and the stripped Candiru (former EDC for several years).

The black oxide Izula is in my pocket everyday.

The OD Izula with TKC extended scales, the black Izula, and the OD Candiru are all unused spares/backups.

The BK14’s I guess can sort of count in the ESEE lineup. I bought just because I like them and they are great knives. If I’m being honest, I think they are better than the Izula. I never EDC’d them due to not having a better sheath, but that may change since I’ve replaced them with kydex recently. The stripped version with cord wrap gets used as my grilling/cooking knife. Of the other two, one has TKC scales and the other has Izula scales, and they both are unused spares.

What are your impressions mate? Do you like it?
It is smaller that I anticipated.. BUT.. I like small knives.. I have large hands but seem to manage this without any problems.. I think once I get handles (ordered this am) on it I will like it more.. I see me carrying this around the house often as the size suits my daily needs here ..πŸ˜‰ Right now it is stubborn to get out of the sheath..πŸ˜‚
Still liking the 4 though..
So.. Your answer is... YES!! πŸ˜‚

John I shaved a little off the two lugs that hold the blade in the sheath. It works better for me the slight rattle it got from the mod doesn't bother me. It is small πŸ˜‚

Hey mate, I really do like your liners and the RB3. I'm not sure I would have a use for it but I'm considering getting a RB3 after watching some reviews. The right-hand only sheath is the only negative for me.
Did you use the factory screws again and have you glued the liner?
Dan.
Factory screws and didnt glue the liners. I have more g10 so i can do more colors and its not moving as of now. The screws definitely dont have near as much length but they are snug. But it needs to be put through its paces to know for sure

When I posted the other day, I almost included the Junglas II as another "black sheep", along with the "5".

Here's my opinion of it... (*which, when combined with $2.49, will get you a small coffee at your local convenience store)

From all my reading, the Junglas was designed as a machete that could also serve as a large knife. As with any "jack-of-all-trades" tool, there are bound to be some trade-offs. For instance, for such a long blade, the Junglass is relatively thin when compared to many other hard use blades of that length. Have I broken mine? No. However, the length of the blade does encourage you to go "full stupid" when you're tired, cold, dehydrated, wet/sandy/salty, and/or just plain impatient. It may be a mental thing...however, because of my perceived limits of the thin stock, I keep waiting to find those limits on the green Mesquite or aged Oak/Ligustrum that I find myself dealing with here in my neck of the woods. All of my ESEEs have been stupidly robust and reliable, but I always seem to find myself wanting to be a bit cautious with the Junglas. (*just because of the length, as I posted)

That being posted, I actually prefer the Junglas II for my uses. No, it isn't the chopper that its big brother is, but I usually have a Bahco Laplander with me and admittedly don't do much chopping. For my uses, the "II" just seems stronger because you get less of the "cheater bar" effect with it, and it doesn't encourage you to try to baton or split a 7" log like the Junglas would.

With that, if you enjoy your Junglas, I think you'd love a "II" equally, but possibly more or less for different reasons.

Again, that's just my $0.02, and your mileage may vary. Happy hunting.

Thanks for your well thought out reply on the Junglas II. I read somewhere that it is more like a heavy-duty knife also. I like the way Esee does the sheaths on them too. A great sheath just adds to the knife as well as a nice handle. There is just so many options and add On's with Esee knives. πŸ‘
