ESEE pictures and chat 👍🏻

I know that this is an Esee picture thread, but I figured I’d ask an Esee related question. Got the J2, and absolutely love the handle and balance. I know the handle is smaller on the 6P is smaller. I need a general consensus on the Esee 6P. Thinking about grabbing one. Would love to hear from heavy users. Thoughts?

Gday I wouldn't call myself a heavy user but when I carry my 6s it gets used for everything I'd use my izula,3,4 and 5 for. I mainly use knives for hunting related purposes. I don't hesitate to use the 6 to dress rabbits, it's not ideal for that task but it gets the job done. No problem using it on pIgs, it has the reach to get in and cut the heart/lungs for a quick dispatch. It takes a good edge and I think it's a nice size knife that carries better than the 5 which is bulky feeling compared to it. But after you having a J2 it will feel fast and light. This is my experience with mine hopefully someone else can give you an idea on how it goes working with wood etc.

Thanks for the detailed response! I was thinking adding a 6 and a 3 to my hard use lineup to have all the bases covered.

Question on the Esee 6, how thick are the stock flat scales? Thinking about getting this knife. Are the contoured 3D scales a good upgrade? It’s only a small price difference.

I can't help you too much on the contour option but I can let you know my experience with the regular scales.
They measure 17.5mm near enough 11/16th of an inch.

I mainly use my ESSE knives for hunting related jobs. Skinning, cutting meat, dispatching animals etc. I find the flat scales offer a good grip when covered in blood. I've never thought to myself, I wish these scales were rounded. But I must stress I don't have experience working with wood or "bush crafting" so it may be a totally different story for those guys. I did have an ESSE 3 with contoured scales and I'd didn't like it. It just didn't feel right to me after years of the flat scales.

I hope this helps you out a bit.

Perfect! Thank you, similar to the thickness of the J2 scales and that’s perfect to me!
