Hey mate where the coating is chipping off, is it rusty or have any sign of rust? I have stripped older ESEEs that looked fine and the steel underneath the coating was showing signs of rust. I was just wondering why it's chipping rather then wearing back.My coating is flaking on one side of the blade?!

The previous owner left it outside in the rain for a while. So rust might be a cause, allthough it doent look rusty to me.Hey mate where the coating is chipping off, is it rusty or have any sign of rust? It will be interesting to see what happens to the coating as you use it in the future. The previous owner left it outside in the rain for a while. So rust might be a cause, allthough it doent look rusty to me.

Hey John it looks hot and dry in the background. That ESEE 6 looks great too mate.
I have an ESEE 5 and I was surprised how well it works as a useful knife for general cutting, after reading about it being a "pry bar'. I've skinned animals, cut rope etc, cut vegetables and meat no worries. I haven't ever done anything with wood though. It's a great knife and one of my favouritesI've yet to buy an esee. I want a 5 because everyone calls it a sharpened pry bar.
