ESEE RAT Arrowheads, ideas...

Wow......Alot of cool stuff in this thread.

Thanks for starting it Don!! Got the gears turning.

The first time I heard the words, "Ballistic Knife," I thought it would be a knife similar to this that was launched like a rifle grenade, with a blank. That would have been nasty! :D

A decent article on building a survival bow.

The author is of the traditional Native American religion, so there's a bit of spiritual stuff in there. Great information though.

I live in western new york...and I've gotta say...the fact tribes lived up here year round.... makes them pretty hardcore. Seeing what it's become is a travesty for another conversatioin.... But I wish I had more access to their...well not survival methods...but living methods. The few ideals and things I have learned have been very helpful... guess I just need to dig deeper and look harder.

Easy enough to do it seems! Costs next to nothing to pick up a whisker biscuit on the 'bay. :D

Would it be possible to dremel out a space inside the izula scales for one or two of these?

In all seriousness, small game is what's abundant in my neck of the woods as far as "survival eating." We have a ton of frogs, fish, turtles, rats, rabbits, groundhogs, etc. that I would be more likley to kill with a simple trap, wire snare or crude spear than ever trying to go for a Whitetail deer. And even at that, the survival we preach and teach does not include taking that much food, so the arrowhead is more of a cool thing to add to a survival kit than a mandatory item. People put WAY too much emphasis on food in a survival situation. If you really want to know what matters, I'd say take a look at the sticky thread on the shelter contest. I would much rather see someone add a poncho to their kit than this bullshit arrowhead. They'll be more likely to come out of the woods alive.

Arrowheads, like most tools, can be fabricated off of materials found off the land, but there are some people who like primitive hunting and other forms of recreation versus all the 7 blade barbed broadhead crap. People have killed animals with sharpened sticks for thousands of years and I think this arrowhead fills the niche of the more primative recreation crowd. Plus an arrowhead doesn't take up nearly the weight or volume that a poncho does ;)

I built one of the sling shot arrow shooters and it works pretty good. I made the arrows a bit longer and 2 piece.

No out of a $10.00 sling shot and whisker biscuit. Also made a Atlatl but don't have the hang of it.
