That rosewood is OUT OF CONTROL!!! Looks like each one has its own special character. I think these knives will end up being an ESSENTIAL part of any serious collection! ;):D:thumbup:

Thanks Justin :D

Seriously though, that old Cattaraugus rosewood has got to be THE most desirable wood for a traditional slipjoint out there today!

You've achieved a huge amount in a short space of time and should feel very proud of yourself.

Looking at you catalogue I was particularly impressed by the Tip Bolster/Bowtie shield 15 (or is it a 77?) really eye-catching. The new run is very interesting and has a lot of personality too.

Regards, Will

Thanks, Jack! Experimental projects like this are equal parts fun and fright, as you never completely know how they will turn out. Luckily, this one seems to be a hit!

Thank you for the kind words, Will!

Just for clarification, the tip bolstered knife with the bowtie is a 15 frame, with pink ivory wood scales on it. Now THAT was a fun experiment!!

Hey Steve,

The etches on the front and back of the blade will be done via deep laser engraving. The "Electric Cutlery" tang stamp, on the front of the blade, have been done using an actual stamp. My ES-N-TL "tang stamp" on the back tang of the blade will be deep laser etched. Using the deep laser etch is the closest thing we can get to having a stamped blade, like the old knives used to have. Modern high-end steels like CPM 154 are too tough to be able to produce a quality stamp on the blades, so it is necessary to reproduce the effect using other means.

So, I was incorrect in my previous post, the blade etch that will be on the pile side of the blade will be done via electro-etch.

Speaking etches, here they are!

Here is a photoshop representation of what the deep laser etch will look like:

Here is the electro-etch that will be on the pile side of the blade. The one on the blade will only have the text, no lines.

The pile side etch was designed by Barry, aka Gunstockjack. Not only did he design this etch for us, he also designed my new ES-N-TL logo! Hat's off to ya, bud!

*Keep in mind that my "Esnyx" etch will not be on the mark side tang, but rather a stamped "Electric Cutlery" logo will be on the mark side. I'll add photos of the stamp soon, along with my update on the build.

Evan,
your progress (in skill and business) is awesome and I do wish you the success you deserve for your knifemaking career.
I think the Esnyx Essentials could be a great way to reintroduce certain patterns and styles that are absent from production cutlery but have their fans here and there.
Among these, your scout/camper knife would be a good idea

Thanks on the info on the etchings, Evan. Stamped tangs and laser/electro etchings on the sides of the blade...gonna be well marked!

Here is a little teaser for you guys. These old scales are turning out to be absolutely stunning!
