Ethan's Gathering May 16,17,18 Signup

my wife's bday is the following weekend and she has informed me that under no uncertain terms that we ARE going out of town and doing something for her bday ..and we are NOT going to have enough money to do a trip two weekends in a row.

I am not a marine, i have never been a marine, i do not smile at death ...i will have to miss this one as much as i was looking forward to going, too many unforeseen circumstances this year that costing us too much money :(

Bummed, but ya'll have a blast, and drink one (or 10) for me !
 
y'know, James - I hear there was a guy who traded a tarp, hammock, & straps for a custom camp knife at a gathering once...
I bet a similar arrangement could be made at this next one...

It never hurts to ask! I'll be bringing along whatever I have that's finished but not sold yet.
 
So I have a camper shell on my truck, so I can sleep in it at the bottom of the hill? I have no tent. Is the knife store close? I don't have a Becker, but plan to pick one up there after some suggestions. Coming from Southern Illinois, any one need a ride can come along.

Unfortunately, the month of May is pure insanity for me. I won't be able to make it--I was really looking forward to my first beckerhead gathering and getting to meet yall in person. Oh well, perhaps next one :thumbup:

yes, you can sleep in your camper at the bottom of the hill.
there is Sloans on the way - it is a gas station/grocery/hardware/camping store - and yes, they sell knives. There is also SMKW about an hour away - roughly an acre of knife store.... plus snacks, clothing, and sharpening supplies.
There are also frequently a plethora of different BKT knives around that you can try out if you ask the owner nicely.

Derek prides himself on the ability to make a knife so sharp it'll cut rocks in half without rolling the edge, but is shy, so will deny it if asked - you should borrow one of his and try it out!

I'm really wanting too make this at least once and my knees are bad I got sleep apnea ect lol and a serious case of too much ass but if I don't go this time I may not get a shot so I'm gonna make it work somehow !!

You wouldn't be the first person at Ethans that had sleep apnea. A couple of the other usuals do as well, I've seen it remidied with a cpack and a car battery, so I wouldn't let that worry you. Be great to meet you.

Cool! Bring more whiskey... last spring you offered me a snort and I declined because I had an upset tummy from some meds I was on. I feel terrible about insulting you that way, and would like a chance to make up for it.
