Ethics of Circle P (Vandine)

Well Steve I dont know you from Adam but I think you might have a screw loose , I have seen your knives and held them as well as looked them over pretty close and I would say you probably should have thanked Paul for allowing you to put your stuff on his Site , I have had a few deals with Paul and he is allways true to his word every time there is No Call for your attitude as I can see so take it anyway you like but you sir are full of it , Tank T bar K Custom Knives :D

Gentlebeings, the purpose of TGB&U is to bring out facts. There don't seem to be a lot of facts in this thread, not so far anyway. Is there any point in continuing?

There must be two Paul Vandines out there, the one that I know and deal with is definitely not the one described by S Pryor. All of our dealings have been smooth and above board and I would recommend him to other makers without reservation. I wish I could place more knives with him but that will improve in the new year.

Well I Don't Know Who this Steve Guy is But Please Sir If You Don't Like Paul Fine !! But Why Try to Mess Up His Business?? I Am with the Other Maker's Until Paul Does Something Bad to Me I Will Give the Guy a Shot !! Matter of Fact I Have !! I Recently Asked Paul to Help "Represent " Some of My Knive's !! He And I Spoke And Agreed That is It !! I Have a Question ?? As a Maker Do you Have More Order's Than you Can Fill?? If you are Like the Rest of "Us" you Probably Could Use "Help " Selling Your Knive's But are "Mad" About Something !! I Am Not Siding With Anyone Here But Until He Doe's Wrong To Me He is Ok !!

This is probably meaningless coming from me since I am another "no name" maker.

Paul has gone out of his way to sell knives for me and get my work in front of people to see. I have sold a number of knives through Paul and have been treated great every time. So much so that when I can I give him a "tip" for his work.

He has NEVER been pushy to me or anything of the sort. In fact the only problem I have with Paul is that I haven't had anything to have him sell for me recently.

I've known Paul for a few years. He has his flaws, and he's pointed that out right here. I think we all have a few skeletons in our closet. Look in the mirror...

But I've never had anything less than good straight talk from him. He's get's a thumbs-up in spite of some of the personal and uninformed ranting. It'll be harder for him now, but I wish him well.

Spryor;I've been following this thread and refrained from jumping in to see how it unfolds. In your post you mention a bad deal, but give no details.Another claim is he "bullied" you into representing him.Ever hear of saying no?If he kept pestering you tell him to F*** Off,but don't whine here that you allowed him to bully you into being a representative, are you a child or adult.I can't see that anything he has done deserves the Bad & Ugly report.I mean he didn't verbally or physically threaten you to represent your knives, correct?Aside from him "rubbing" you the wrong way,he doesn't seem to have done anything significant to mention here, unless your leaving something out.So far I don't see a major incident or problem.Did we all miss something?I would hate to see CircleP's Knife business be harmed over a personality conflict.

Hmmmm....
I am sitting here in cold, snowy Switzerland in front of my computer and reading this thread since a few days now. I don't know any of the involved parties.
But I have to ask now again (like others did before me)....
WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO SHUT DOWN THIS THREAD NOW?
I think there was "said" more then enough by now.

 Such stuff makes me kind of sad (but still I think I have a great hobby!)

Well sorry if people posting keeps the thread going, and yes it is sad.I really don't see the point in closing the thread personally, unless it gets abusive with name calling and such. Thus far it has been a tame thread with only a couple of insults.I would like to know what this guy did that was so bad to have his business possibly be affected. While I don't offer any facts to the case, my opinion matters and this is a public thread no matter who's side your on or opinion you may hold. While you or others may feel enough has been said, maybe someone else feels different.I could never understand people that complain about closing the thread,if you have nothing to offer and are tired of the thread, stop reading it.Why ask for someone elses opportunity to post in a thread to be stopped.I believe the thread should remain open and whomever wants to post in it should be able to do so.In time the thread will die naturally as it should, not by locking it down.

We don't believe much in locking threads around here, especially on TGB&U. For one thing it isn't fair -- what if we had locked the thread after the first post, no rebuttals allowed? Of course anyone who feels they've seen enough is welcome to stop reading it.

I was going to stay out of this but I couldn't resist...

I have had DOZENS of exchanges-business/personal-with Paul and they have been nothing but pleasureable and flawless. I really hate when someone I consider a friend and good person gets slammed like this. The dealings that Steve has had w/Paul in the past may have been bad. I am sorry to hear that. But in this community as well as any other, this type of slamming should not take place at all. If it NEEDS to take place it should be done via private e-mail. Sure this has brought out a lot of good points and bad points on both ends here, but the negativity is something that should be kept out or taken to the private arena.

I hope that Steve can see his way clear of the past experiences with Paul and just let it die....

I will continue to do business with Paul as long as he is in business. I hope that he stays with us small time makers because in my opinion he is invauleable. I have sold EVERY knife that he has rep'd and without a glitch...Thanks Paul for all the good you have done for me and all the other satisfied makers....

This thread was obviously inspired most likely by Neil Blackwood posting his story in Pauls thread about a magazine article. Neils claims were speculation and no decent proof presented. Many people backed up Neil because they knew him and Bub Worrell to be 'stand up guys'. Some people based that on 'meeting them at a show once' or 'got an email from him once'. They may very well be great guys, but to slam Paul because you met one of the mentioned makers once is bad. How the hell do you know what kind of a person one is because you met them once at a show?

For all we know, maybe Bub flat out stole the design, or maybe not. He is gone now so the point is moot.

I guess the point is, if you are a good maker with popular knives then you can sling accusations around without fear.

Steve starts this thread accusing Paul of bad dealings...no details or proof, but to some people the accusation is enough. Who knows, maybe these people met Steve once and they think that qualifies them to judge him as being a good guy.

Maybe Paul is pushy....actually he was at one time at least. I suspect he has probably learned and tried to improve his business and customer service. Simple do a good job and people will come to you. However, being pushy is not always bad. Maybe he was over enthusiastic and excited about starting a business. He is learning and doing his best to treat everyone well and that is a good thing.

Show real proof that he ripped somebody off, and I will change my thinking, but until then the moderators need to clamp down on accusations aimed at ruining a business without proof.

Many forumites cannot get away with such behavior, why should a maker be any different just because they make cool knives and people meet them at shows.

For the record, I bought a knife from Paul once (a Bub Worrell as a matter of fact). The knife was the one on the picture just like Paul said it would be and was described perfectly accurate.

Paul maybe a bit pushy (at least was) but he did call me (at his expense) to make sure everything was in order.

It's clear to see that you let your mouth spew, not knowing what you're talking about or not. I doubt seriously if you have held any of *my* knives. I made it clear to some that I also sell work from another shop, and am guessing those are the ones you spew about...oh yeah, and where's your "proof".
You obviously didn't understand that paul did not "allow" me to do anything. He hounded me til I felt sorry for him..then I discovered the real paul.
It's pretty clear to me that you and p are obviously in bed together.
:D
Speaking of proof and loose screws..guess you think one of your *past* customers has a loose screw also. Here is a copied piece from an email I got from one of *your* a past customers.

"I wanted to email you privately because I personally don’t think it’s worth it anymore to voice my opinion on the sight. I happen to think you are 100% correct about Paul and also wanted you to know that the other jerk TBARK is a complete fool. I bought a couple of his knives last year and talk about CRAP. I had to send it back because they wouldn’t open then he try’s to feed me some BS that it must be the change in weather that made the scales swell and cause the knife to not open. Sorry it’s because he made crap from the get go. He also put a pocket clip on my $400.00 knife that came from a Chinese LCC knock off. I’m surely not a dummy and hate to be taken as one. Hope you don’t mind me writing to you like this but anyone with half a brain can see what is going on. You sir are 100% correct in your opinion and you did take a very civil approach to begin with."

Full of it huh tank..? These are just the facts!

I dont know who you got the e-mail from but he is probably as big of weenie as you are you still offer No Proof of anything paul did wrong other than trying to help you out , I am my own person and not in bed with anyone some people dont like my work some do Just like anyone else I dont see you offering and Dual-Action folding knives on your website and as far as putting a clip on for someone I dont remember doing it but you can bet as long as there are Idiot's like you out there I will keep my List handy of people like you who I dont do any type of work for and FYI Sheep Horn Swells in High Humidity but if you were a knifemaker you might be aware of this . Tank:p

Get this straight tank dood, p was only trying to help himself. I didn't need his help then and don't now. Just as I haven't ask for any of your work, so you know where you can put your "list"..it'll be real handy there.;)
You're right though in that I don't make any dual action folding knives...figured I'd wait until I could do it right.
I don't make folder's but from what little research I've done..the scales have nothing whatsoever to do with the operation of the knife..unless things are not tight/right to start with.

Hehe, yep, you sound just like ol p.."I dont remember doing it", guess if it works for him...:barf:
