Ever lost a knife?

i lost my favorite EDC in the spring. it was something like a stockman but with a coping blade and a secondary clip blade...a railsplitter? made by western. it was an older one, terrible fit and finish, but the blades were beautifully ground and sharpened up great. it was a great knife, perfect combo of blades and nice jigged bone scales.

it fell out of a holey pocket while working in the yard at my uncle's house. i was dragging tarps of leaves into the woods all day, and it took until the afternoon for me to notice it missing. at that point, it could have been just about anywhere.

i picked up my opinel again to carry, but once spring heated up the wood kept swelling too badly, so i picked up my buck stockman to give it some serious pocket time. that's lead to my new favorite knife, a case large stockman in bonestag.

i hate losing stuff, i'm very paranoid about holey pockets now...

I lost a dive knife that was strapped to my leg on a wreck dive deep below the Atlantic. I never noticed it missing until surfacing and by then it was too late to go back down looking for it. That's the only knife I ever lost.

I lost my Spyderco Delica about ten years ago. About two weeks ago I was up in the storage shed moving some stuff around and there it was behind some boxes along the side of the shed. It was a happy find as this knife was a gift from my daughter about 15 years ago.:D

A couple years ago right at dusk, I field dressed a Mule deer and when I finished it was to dark to find the knife. The next day I went back and couldn't find it. The next spring the farmer was plowing that field when something shinny caught his eye. It was the knife which was a Gerber Gator. It was 154cm steel and still just like new. One of the best Gerber knives out there.

Siguy-is that the one you got from me? I think I saw one at one of the pawnshops the other day, I can check if you like.

Lost a few over the years, but I've found a few as well. Dollarwise I'm way ahead but I'd really like to have back the ones I've lost!

coffeecup, yep that's the one. don't worry too much about it, i'm pretty smitten with the standard stockman pattern right now. i think i'm going to try a muskrat soon though, that pattern looks like it might be good for me needs.

Although it was nothing pricey, I lost my favorite EDC an old Gerber EZ-Out, from before they were skeletonized. I had it when I started drinking...

My Western hunting knife when I was about 12
It's on my ranch somewhere
Gonna drink a bunch of double lattes and try and metal detector it someday

My dad's 1960's Case XX folding hunter about 2 years ago
I still got the sheath though

Had a Buck 639 stolen in college
I didn't really like the GREEN camo looks anyways....

I keep hoping my pre-86 Buck 110 will show up at my mom's house
I think it may have been confiscated at The Cow Palace though

:grumpy:
A Speedtech folder in the woods

then a video camera bag containing:
a Simonich Combat Raven bought from Rob
a Busse Assalt Shaker
a Becker BK7 bought from Ethan
a Camillus Talon in a Kenny Rowe sheath
a Leatherman Wave
and a SOG folder I had owned for years.
:grumpy:
Yes I'm still pissed about it.

Hey gang, just lost my all time favourite blade, my blue alox farmer, could be anywhere. Lost my Gransfors Bruks sfa en route home from the North, my storage bin busted open. Huge losses, never even used my sfa, except to cut up my 80 dollar christmas tree up north to try it out.
Anyone else lose a good blade over the years? Help me over my losses.:p

I lost a Spyderco Delica 3 on a backpacking trip

I've since replaced it with a Delica 4. From a monitary standpoint, it wasn't a really big deal, but what's frustrating is that I really prefered the 3 to the 4 because of the lack of liners (and lighter weight), and have been unable to find a delica 3 anywhere.

Daaaamn - I probably would have shed a tear over that one. :grumpy:

Lost an Al Mar ultralite Eagle while harvesting a little table corn. Found it the next fall while goose hunting the same field. I laid down with my camo blanket and there it was. Of course, I'd already got another one in the Talon grind--KV

I have a two silvers and a red one. In fact - if you want the silver one, that may ease your pain - let me know - I will send it.

:thumbup:Thanks for the kind offer, but I have a red one to replace it. That blue one and I have been through a lot though. I may do a little shopping at feline vet on SOSAK, there might be a new color that may float my boat.

A few years ago I lost my spyderco native while climbing-must have slipped out of my pocket at some point and I didn't notice.By the time I did notice it was gone ,it was too late in the day to head back....So of course I skipped work the next to look for it,and found it at the bottom of the climb:),a little dinged up:grumpy: and locked open:confused:.The very next week I lost it while bushwhacking in the same area:mad:and never did find it.
I wound up replacing it with the native3.

I'm glad to say that I've never lost a knife other than losing track of a few somewhere in the house or car. I must live a charmed life. That or I'm ocd about checking what's in my pockets.

I really feel for some of you folks and your losses. Good excuse to get a new knife though!

I lost a CS folder about 15 years ago, and the search to replace it got me hooked on knives. I found it about 5 years ago in a sock drawer. Last year after a camping trip, I lost a Dozier Delta Traveller. I found it a couple of weeks ago, but have since lost my SR Bandicoot packing for a camping trip a couple of weeks ago. I suppose I'll find that next year too....

I hate getting old...

I had a US Navy deep sea diving knife (Brass cylinder and Lemon wood) 1912 vintage, that my father gave me before he died stolen from my gear while traveling on Greyhound and I had a girlfriend steal/lose an old skinner that was given to me by the man who taught me to trap as a child.

Sure - I have a red one too! Couldn't pass up the sale on Amazon!

I'm 99% sure I lost a SAK soldier today. Had a bit of a crazy day, on account of my son having a fever and being sick.

I'd had it only a couple of months. While not a big cost hit, I did like it a lot. Oh well.
