Ever pull out your edc and scare someone?

pulled out my spyderco civillian...I offered him my coldsteel gunsite...

Your choice of EDC knives are not "utility" knives and would raise an eyebrow by just about anyone, even a "knife guy".

I had the same problem with my Spec Elite II. If its big, its scary.

So now if I have a large or self-defense (the only use for a Civilian imo) knife on me, I have a small utility knife to do utility jobs with.

I was at work in the shipping office and I pulled out and Endura to cut a string from my jeans. Didn't think twice about it till my boss at the time rolled his chair back and said something to the effect of, "Why do you have a machete in your pocket?"
Now, for some reason, I also had a Military and a Tactical Blur with me. I put them all on the table and said, "The machete is in the truck, these are my tooth pics." Or something like that in a completely nonchalant voice. Probably not the best of behavior, but I really didn't like the guy to begin with.

He doesn't work there anymore.

I still work there, but another part of the plant. My two department coworkers carry a Digital Military and a Cara Cara, respectively. Im in much better company.

My boss at work has generally been impressed with my EDC, a Benchmade Snody Resistor auto, now we'll se about how he feels about my new Raven X!

Yep, more than my fair share of would-be muggers have faced my EDC and have changed their mind. Lucky I haven't taken a bullet yet. I whooped out a SOG Trident folder for a task last year while in company HQ and scared the crap out of a female office worker.

My edc is a Benchmade 32 morpho (which i actually LOST yesterday! X_X). Its small but the sound of a butterfly knife opening alone scares people (since its usually open by the time they see it). Ive scared quite a few friends with it (and fascinated some).

I carry a beat up SE, SS Endura as my work knife.(Warehouse) Most ppl carry boxcutters/razor knives.Everytime I pull it out,I get some kind of negative comment.Machette,Safty Hazard and so on.My Endura blade does not snap like those POS boxcutters.I'd love to pull out my Cuda Maxx but (I can not express myself well so I use foul language) would run and tell.Don't need the hassle.

I changed over from carrying a Kershaw Leek because the blade snapping out would startle people.

Everytime I pulled out my Spyderco Endura serrated edge people get scared. It gets alot of use on a construction site.

I whipped out my ever handy SAK to cut a slice of pizza, and a friend of mine jumped back a bit.

I explained how it's not meant to be nor is useful as a weapon. I demonstrated to him that the blade didn't lock, and how my fingers would be chopped off if I tried to stab with it. Comments included "Come on, what am I going to do, open a bottle of wine?"

I think it helped.

First time I used my brand new BM 930 at work to cut some cake for the coffee break(ooo rime ^^), a guy instantly asked me "have you stabbed anyone with that thing?"
Told him I dont use my knives for that sorta thing.

Guess the spear-point blade scares sheeple.

LOL
That would certainly have scared the shit out of him!:D

I also remember when I took my caly3 with me and cut up an apple(also for coffee break ;) ) and my coworkers called it something along the lines of a commando knife. -_-

I've also been told frequently by my parents that carrying a knife is illiegal.
According to Swedish law, it is legal, as long as you don't use the knife to commit a crime.

I really, really hate my country. It's full of idiots and sissies.

At work the other day (office job) we had a "food day" I pulled out my Canoe and opened the SMALL blade to open some packages of hot dogs and some dude looked at me like I was a serial killer.

But these people don't even know what it is. A knife is a knife, scary is scary. If Sister Mary Anne took out a Civilian, called it her pruning knife and went to work on the rose bushes next to the shrine of St. Peter no one would give her a second look. But because YOU, Neanderthal that you are, have a knife, even it is a SAK, it is immediately a weapon. Because, after all, NO ONE carries WEAPONS anymore who's a real person. People are dumb.

While fishing I pulled out my Kershaw Scallion one and some guy screamed to call the cops because I was going to slaughter him...

I was cutting open a new reel..

I non chalantly took out my GregLightfoot to pry batteries out of a powered headset I was buying, when the girl behind the counter kinda jumped and said "ohhh....is that even legal?"

Realizing what I had done, I looked down at the knife in my hand, like I was completely surprised by the question, and said "well, it's really just a pocket knife. If it's carried 'as a weapon', that would be questionable, but you're allowed to have a pocket knife."

Oh, yeah, then there was the boneheaded time I pulled out a utility knife to open something in the school cafeteria, ohhh, back in '82, with the vice principal standing 30 feet away. I didn't even think anything til I saw his sideways glance, and his completely conspicuous way of trying to move towards me all inconspicuous like.

Into my pocket with that sucker, and exit, stairway left! So fast and furious did I run, that I smacked head first right into a buddy from my drama class.

So, yeah, I can tell you from experience, you can get hurt when people takes knives to school. I bumped my head, and old Max got the wind knocked out of him.

:-(

Brent.

Oh, and I didn't get arrested in either incident. Pretty good, considering this is the ORC -- oppressive republic of Canada.

once on a trip with class camping trip when i was younger another student caught his shirt on a rock while rock climbing and beleive it or not he panicked and started screaming. i swung over to him an pulled my old EDC a cheapo black blade spyderco rip-off and as soon as he saw it he started screaming even louder and this times the words HES GONNA KILL ME!!!! were mised into the combo. i quickly cut his shirt from the rock and we repelled down, the whole time he still was screaming HES GONNA KILL ME!!!!!! so when we reached the bottom of course he ran off and hid from me and my current principal came over and yelled at me for bringing a knife on a school trip, naturally i showed him it was a tool and not a weapon and after a long conversation he agreed that in my hands the knife was not a threat to anyones health an that i could keep it. once we got back from the trip he actually asked me if i wouldnt mind carrying a knife on campus!, im not kidding , he ASKED me to carry a knife at a highschool so for the rest of the year whenever a cutting edge or a pair of pliers was needed i was the go to guy for the job, but to this day everytime the scaredy student sees me he inches away cautiosly
