Weird feeling. I sold a Spydie a few days ago to someone and today the exact knife is on eBay. LOL, how do I know that it's the same knife? He even used the pics that I took for my sale here in his eBay sale.

Ever had that happen?

Pretty lame using photos that don't belong to you without the original owners permission to sell a knife or anything else. Very poor form.

FWIW, I add people constantly flipping knives to my ignore list so I know not to buy and sell from them. If this happened to me I'd add them

Meh, it's kinda lame, but once he bought it from you it's his and he can do what he pleases with it. However, I would definitely agree with Rev that his use your photos is extremely tacky.

Yes, I've had something similar happen to me.

I was looking at a thread someone started about their Sebenza and thought it looked familiar.

Sure enough it was the same knife I sold to someone else a week earlier.

But the way I look at it is they can do whatever they want with it after they buy it.

As for using your pics without permission, that is just poor taste.:thumbdn:

Agree on the pics, but unless it's a habit, maybe someone just bought to try and decided it wasn't for them.

I find myself in that position at the moment, just got a package in the mail today... great knife, I appreciate it for what it is, but it doesn't make me as happy as ones that I already have. I'll give it a couple weeks to talk to me, but I have a feeling it's going back up again.

Buy it and resell, maybe it wasn't for them. They could at least take their own darn pics. Lazy people irritate me.

I agree; it's their choice to resale, but recycling your pictures without asking is very poor form subject to being placed on the ignore list.

As mentioned I if I trade a knife and decide I don't like it I re-trade it, I agree with others you should take your own pics.

It's absolutely within the buyer's rights to buy a knife cheap here and resell it at a profit elsewhere.

It is equally within our rights to choose not to do business with him/her in the future...

Thanks for the heads up KrisOK.

It was me! No shame in this game! Wont see me posting backhandedly about it either.

I posted it up on the ebays bc I didn't like it...which is absolutely within my right. If people don't want to buy/sell or trade with me bc I flip knives all day... thats your own prerogative bouncing around its high horse. To each his own.

I didn't have any pics on me when I was posting items earlier, so I used those that sold me, until I could take my own better pics. Pics of the ACTUAL item are truthful and more accurate than stock photos pulled elsewhere. "Tacky" lol, thats just a silly thing to say. Its honest if you ask me. Were those photos being sold elsewhere? The knife is now mine and thus so are public pictures of said knife, no? This isnt fine art we're talking about.

I bought it, and sold it. No need to hate...I'm not sure I understand who loses here.

I have sold some knives at a loss thinking they were going to a knife fan that would appreciate them. Then, I see the knife being sold days later for a huge markup over my price.
Dishonest, no. Tacky, absolutely.
As for the above post, as least take your own pictures! You are not buying pictures when you buy a knife, those still belong to the person who took them.

The knife was sold, to a very avid Spyderco fan who is elated to be adding this particular one to his collection at a fraction of the price he would have found it elsewhere.

I would never sell anything at a loss... I don't hate money.

I'll take being accused of being tacky all day if whatever it is that warranted the accusation, accomplished its purpose. Sorry I'm not sorry.

I think it just boils down to reputation. As a buyer, I assume if I see non-stock photos in a sale listing, it's photos of the knife in seller's possession. Photos from a previous owner isn't really honest unless it's clearly stated in the listing. How do I know its in the exact same condition?

But I digress. As many said here, it's your knife to do with what you wish.

You are of course free to behave as you please. Since your goal is to "flip knives all day," maybe a dealer membership would suit you better than gold.

Its a good point in regards to it being in the same condition or not. But in that respect... the buyer would have to trust my feedback. (which although irrelevant to this convo...is impeccable)

I truthfully can't believe that this is even an issue. Life is way too short to stress something so utterly insignificant.

My mistake. "Flip" implies I buy and sell for the sole purpose of gaining a profit. Thats not the case. I buy them to posses them, use them, handle them, play with them etc....and sell them to purchase new pieces. I hold a relatively small number of knives at any one time....I just don't see the sense in having 100+ knives at once. Its not for me.

However, for the sake of argument...lets say I did just buy and sell for the sole purpose of making a profit here and there. Who cares? Who does this hurt? Who loses in this situation? I guess I am just a little confused as to why anyone is stressing this.

Chuckler, I'm not here because this is a huge deal or being critical of your actions. I was just perusing the forums. Buy and sell as you please. It doesn't impact me one bit.

My only comment is use your own pics. The feedback system doesn't encompass everything.

I'll often post knives here at a low price because I got a good deal on them and want to pass it along to someone else here. I know others do the same.
By jacking the price up the people who lose are others here who just want to enjoy the knives.
Just my take on it.
