Ever total up how much you have spent on knives?

I keep track of certain things I collect in Excel (die cast cars, CDs, etc.) Earlier this year I added a column to summarize what I have spent on my knives. I guess I shouldn't be all that surprised, but the total was pretty shocking.

My goodness, if my wife ever found out.

No.

Never do that. That's like keeping a ledger of all the people you've cheated with.

Nothing good will come of it. Lol

I made a list of my knives, their steel types, sizes and prices and am in the process of converting it into a spreadsheet.

I've given away a buttload of knives over the years to my friends and family.

Middle Bro asked me how much I've spent on knives once. I gave him a rough number.

He sat dumbfounded for a second before asking... "Is that Pesos?'

I did not too long ago and it was damn near as much money as I make in a year. Even worse, I only started collecting knives a little over a year ago. Ahh the single life :)

Keeping track of how much you spend on an addiction is a dangerous thing!

Just make sure the money you spend is money you can afford to spend and it doesn't matter.....

If added up all the money i've spent on all the different things i've been addicted to, i'd probably become physically ill and weep uncontrollably. That is a figure i never want to calculate!

I thought about doing that. I started and got 5-6 knives in and quickly decided ignorance is bliss.

I keep some records but don't add them up. But I always tell myself it's cheaper than owning a bass boat.

What kind of thread is this? Thats the last thing i need to know. Great now my brain is turning. $110 + 242 + 189 + 160 + 200. Wow. I.. Thats one shelf. Theres about... Times 3... Plus those over there... Those two im my truck, under the bed... 😳😱

Not really, but I know how many I have and about what I typically pay for knives, so I can do the math. Between $5k and $7k would be my guess.

Maybe around 8k-10k for me.....in the last 4-5 years.

But I'm trying to quit......

I have quit or mostly so. Haven't bought a knife so far this year. I had a couple of years with some extra income that could fund the hobby but those days are gone now.

Every time I try, something cool, rare or new pops up and boom! :( The key for me is to never go look, disable all my ebay search links or stay off the net entirely. I've never saved so much money as when my laptop crashed and I was offline for 5 weeks. :D

Nope. Not really sure that I want too.

I am pretty happy with what I have right now. I hate to think about how much I have tied up in knives ( or knives I have given away).

Still want a saw and a machete of some sort. A few small things for camping, the CERT bag and emergency gear but, for the most part I am done.
