Ever total up how much you have spent on knives?

Is this directed at me? No you don't need to worry about this kind of stuff being a high school senior. You have a lot of time to concern yourself with knives, guns, other hobbies, and wives. Assuming you want to get married, pick a good one.
 
Been into blades wayyy too long to consider that answer...it would make my brain lock up :stupid:

I try to not think about it till these threads come around but right now, just looking at the pile of empty boxes, I'm thinking somewhere in the $40-50K range on my little collection.
Then there's all the sharpening gear....
I need a cheaper hobby.
 
I did one time and it was over $2000 dollars in the past 3 years. I didn't feel bad telling my wife because she has spent as much in make up products, lol.
 
Goodness, After just getting back into the hobby this month I've spent 1300$ already. Help!

Ha! The definition of a boat is.... A hole in the water that you shovel money into.

I started a calculation in my head one day, but stopped before it exploded. Now, I have zero debt, empty nest and double income, but have lately stuck with just getting the Mule Team releases.
I'm pretty much content with what I have, but like an occasional project.

Retirement is coming up in a few years, and if I control my vices now, I be able to keep them up after retirement.
 
I do this every 2 years or so, have a small panic attack, then carry on. Most committed hobbies seem to generally follow this pattern for me. About ready to move on from knives though...and back into cars!

I have to agree. But, let's take it a step further. Start getting your knives, guns, etc, NOW. That way you have them before you get married. You might not be able to after you start a family.

Oh, and about picking a good spouse.... I agree even more. It took 3 times for me. Life can be pure H*** if you are married to a bad spouse.

Also, don't be in a hurry to marry. What is important in a spouse at 18-24 years of age is quite a bit different than 28 to 30.

Jesus...you got that right. Got rid of my 4th last year....and I ain't lookin' for a 5th,I guarendamntee,LOL, even tho its not even slightly amusing, I know that will all go out the window if I meet somebody hot enough. ;')

I'm sixteen no way I can marry at 18 wouldn't have the money to begin with. That is why I wanna do ten years navy after this final year of school so I come out when I'm about 27 if I do ten. But if God blesses me with being able to stay with the girl i've been with for six months then I'd probably marry earlier but otherwise not gonna until after the ten. On bright side she likes shooting and wants an old dodge truck like her dads.

Back on topic. Last year in total I got $500 and three hundred of that went towards sharp objects the rest went towards paying my mom what I owed her for my shotgun that she got me for birthday cuz she couldn't afford a gift that expensive so I owed her some. Good thing I'm good with power tools so I make gifts from stuff I got to save money. Out of that three hundred only two went towards knives including delica price but other one hundred was still associated. Leather for sheaths etc. man this math stuff hurts my brain haha

Why only do ten? You are half way towards retirement. I can see doing a full twenty so you have a retirement or a short enlistment to get your college funding and some VA benefits.

I wasn't Navy but I did spend a little time in uniform. '76-02.

Sound advice. I married someone much younger than me. She'd been living with her. Has no sense of responsibility. She refused to pay any bills because she was using her paycheck towards paying off her credit cards. Turned out she was lying, buying hundreds of dollars of cheap crap on Amazon. The collection notices started coming a month ago or so. I check her credit report, turns out she's not paid a dime in over a year. This is on top of her old boyfriend message me that she was trying to have an affair with him 2 months after we got married. Today was our one year. I'm serving her with papers Wednesday. She's 25, I'm 37. I thought she would grow up being married. Nope. I kicked her out a month ago. She was supposed to be paying the cell phone bill. Got a call while at work, hadn't been paid in three months. That was it.

Take your time, don't rush in. They say fools rush in, and d@m right.

Back to knives.

For now, I've got one more on my list. Spyderco mantra 1, or wait for the advocate by Gayle Bradley.

And to guy I quoted. Damn that sucks. Rush? Never done that took 4 months to grow a pair and kiss her.

Back to knives I guess I can add $8 to this years total saw a knife on the bay and if I didn't hit order the curiosity of what it was woulda drove me insane

I never buy from fleabay. Too many fakes.

You have more balls than me. It took me until I was 20 for that first kiss. I didn't have time for a girlfriend in high school. I worked almost every night and weekends.

I see some of these knives people post, and I can see myself homeless in 6 months.

I normally don't either but it looked old and my sanity is worth more than eight bucks I really wanna know what it is.
