Too Cool!!!!:D:thumbup::thumbup:

I echo his sentiments exactly.

THREE Izulas are better.

I agree, I just picked up a desert tan today. That's #3! Man, why'd you have to post that picture. It makes me want it NOW!! :D

I'll be getting one unless they put the price through the roof - in which case, my fixed Izula will remain my EDC.

I picked up a Tan izula from RockyNational.com today. A great deal I believe.
When will other companies figure out that dedicated customers are the best advertising you can get?

Where ya going with that ac1d0v3r1d3?

If it weren't for all the great things I hear about the ESEE knives (the izula especially) I wouldn't be buying one that's for sure. Small fixed blades aren't my style usually. It seems to me that if you really take care of your customers then they will do a ton of advertising for you by word of mouth.
What'd ya think I meant? :D

Just got my Desert Tan Izula w/survival kit today and loving it! Small but perfect. It's a fixed blade that you want to edc.

I wasn't sure ac1d0v3r1d3. I really dislike some of the "fanboy" stuff that follows certain knifemakers. I hope that RAT/ESEE remembers who got them here as you allude to.

it will have D2 and a SS framelock

Regarding that Izula folder won't it weigh out like a tank? Does that mean one side will be SS and the other have a G-10 overlay? D2 - ??

is that real

if they stick with their carbon steel for that folder I will be ALL over it!

There must be good reasons for not using 1095 in folders, but the only one I can think of is that the internal/covered areas like the pivot could rust. Any more?

That Izula folder looks wonderful. Brilliant, putting the pivot directly in front of the lockbar.

I'm curious to know why that is such a good thing. Or were you being sarcastic?

I'm not a missing hobo, but I think I understand what he meant (and I do believe he was being genuine). By placing the lock bar directly behind the pivot, it should, in theory, reinforce/take pressure off of the pivot (the three points of contact in a frame/liner lock....the stop pin, the pivot, and the lock bar) during activities (like batoning or spine-whacking) that place shock/stress on the spine of the blade. It should also help to eliminate blade play. At least, I think that's what he meant.;)

Edited to add: I've heard people like Strider caution against having two points of contact (in this case the pivot and the lock bar) too close together, so it will be interesting to see how this design works out.

My feeling is that the fixed izula is thick and strong as a fixed- i.e appropriate to have the strength of blade in a solid unit. Once you engineer a folding mechanism in there, it kinda makes the rest of the spec- esp the thickness, a bit out of place, imho.
Guess I may underestimate the strength of a folding mechanism?

As eye candy, however, it is awesome.

Assumption radar just went off... is it the same thickness as the fixed!?

It's hard to beat a small fixed blade IMO.

But then I never really liked folders all that much, only carry and use them because I have no choice. ;)

Given the choice I would always take a fixed blade over a folder. :)

If the laws weren't what they seem to be these days I wouldn't own any folding knives at all.
