Everybody NEEDS an Izula

The more and more I see your "cool pants" Hoopster, the more I think I need some...

If so, can you post up a picture of your cool pants next to a stock sheath?

Would the cool pants fit up to a Large Tek-Lok?

Thanks!

I'm not sure about the large tek-lok, I don't have one to evaluate. I did measure the rivet holes on my sheaths and they're spaced at 1" center to center if that helps. IIRC the small tek-lok is 1/2" so they do work and the large is 3/4" so possibly a no-go.
The first picture is closer to the design I've been making lately. It's shorter than incorporating the large hole on the end.

I wont actually be cutting fish at work. I'm a welder, but sometimes I have to work is some pretty dirty places. I'm thinking either I won't wrap the izula or I'll just use a different knife at work!
Thanks for the tip on the marine epoxy though

Why dont they just make one with scales on it and charge more? I dont mind a cord wrap but they should give folks the option.

Does the standard sheath take a large Tek-Lok? Small TL's dont work for me because my favourite belt is a Spec-Ops Better BDU (1,5 inch).

Otherwise it looks great and I will no doubt buy one one day.

They do offer scales for an extra $15 or so. Pretty reasonable if you ask me.

Here they are (as posted previously on this thread)...

I saw a very cool Izula on another board. Spray can paint remover took it down to bare metal in 15 minutes (while still retaining the stamps), then left it soak in apple cider vinegar overnight for a nice patina and rust protection.

I'm doing it with my new Tan Izula that's in the mail - I'll post pics!

3Guardsmen:
I'm not a missing hobo, but I think I understand what he meant (and I do believe he was being genuine). By placing the lock bar directly behind the pivot, it should, in theory, reinforce/take pressure off of the pivot (the three points of contact in a frame/liner lock....the stop pin, the pivot, and the lock bar) during activities (like batoning or spine-whacking) that place shock/stress on the spine of the blade. It should also help to eliminate blade play. At least, I think that's what he meant.

Thank you, this is exactly what I meant.
Also, any stress or kinetic energy exerted on the lock has to go through the pivot first, which means that a strenuous activity like batoning would be less likely to damage or wear out the lock. I am open to the possibility that this is perhaps an unwise move, as you mentioned, but for the life of me I can't see how...

it's a small, very tough knife...the handle unwrapped is too small for my hand.

wrapping it definitely helped the ergo's...i was looking forward to the scales but now see no need for them.

smaller than the becker necker...w/o wrapping i'll take the becker.

After selling off most of my collection, everything besides my trusty small Sebenza....I came to realize that I should have a designated "Work" knife.

I decided that it would be most fitting to have a fixed blade....and I think that a smaller blade with good ergos is best for the tasks at hand.

Did some looking around and found the Izula...wow was my first impression...I need to have one.

Ordered one with a fraction of the funds that I made from selling off other knives (most on ebay, I forgot all about the exchange here...and figured 25 bux to help support the site and the fine knife people on here, what the heck, so I just recently started selling on there...sorry)

Anyways...

Got the knife today, rushed home at noon to get it, ripped open the box with my sebenza....set the sebenza down in my pickup....I didn't have any paracord, so I stole a shoelace out of one of my old boots and wrapped it up....put the Tek-Lok on the sheath, put it on my belt, and off I went, back to work.

Used it all day, stripping insulation off of #2 Alu wire, #8 & #6 Copper wire. Reaming PVC, etc, giving it a good workout...All in the freezing temperatures.

The ergonomics of this knife are amazing, fits perfect in my hand and allows total control.

This really feels like a fixed blade sebenza....

Got home and took it back out of the sheath, looked at the edge....perfect! YES! I am throughly enjoying using this tough little bastid! They don't call it an Izula for nothing. And I don't have to worry about any chit getting in it and not being able to close it. Just wipe it down and put it away.

For $41 you can't not afford to own one.

My sebenza will now be carried whenever i'm not at work, and the izula is the new workhorse.

I might have to trade/sell the sebenza for a fancy sebenza. :)
