Great question, and I am afraid that it is one that has a very small chance of being answered any time soon.

But, basically
3" blade with the tip at or below the center line of the handle
no sharpening choil, would want the edge up close to the handle
Thin stock with thinness behind the edge
good steel, stainless preferably
no compression lock
no slots or holes in the blade
not a front flipper
thumbstud or back flipper ok
handle scales with some texture, not all metal/slippery

Something along those lines

It's easier to ask what have you NOT tried yet, than what did you not like? Also, what about lock type - liner lock, frame lock, button lock, shark lock, axis-lock, etc?

EDIT - Also don't forget to add NO saber grind AND must have a way to attach a lanyard.

I mean.... it sounds like a solid list and takes a ton of knives out of the running. Good luck with the hunt!

RoseCraft Blades Clinch River Swayback Smoky Gray Bone Wharncliffe.

Really well made. I cannot find a single flaw. Smooth and snappy. Very clean inside. No gaps. Perfectly centered blade, and real sharp. My first knife from them. It won't be my last. It's hard to capture how nice the scales are with a pic.

My latest, just got back from Myrtle Beach and stopped in a big gun store down there. They had a pretty nice selection of blades, I decided to pick up one of these because I have been looking at them for a while. I debated between the large and small one, but decided the small with the 2-3/4" blade would be perfect for me.
The aluminum handle makes it light, but solid. The hollow grind and blade shape I love, super slicey. I can honestly say this is one of the sharpest knives I have ever received brand new from the factory and effortlessly push cut through thin receipt paper. I am verily happy with this one! I feel like this is going to be a regular addition to my rotation.

Thanks to DocJekl for this 3v Demko 2.5 which he convinced me to hang on to, as we have been bouncing knives back and forth until something sticks, I know, it's a risky practice

We are not allowed to discuss knife values if you don't have a gold membership. I got this one from Recon1. I've only seen a few others on the secondary market in the past few years but in worse condition for about the same price. You may be able to find one on reddit if you are vigilant. I don't use social media but you may be able to find one on Facebook as well.
