Everyone's latest acquisitions!

I lost my PM3LW in magnacut. And I know where but it's gone for good.

Replaced it with this ManixLW also in magnacut. I have become quite the Spyderco fan, and the magnacut just puts the knife at the top of the heap. I also wanted to try the ball bearing lock and like it - except the spring seems a bit on the strong side. Better that than weak I guess. So far, I like it a lot. The ergonomics are great for my xxl hands.View attachment 3143491View attachment 3143492View attachment 3143493View attachment 3143494
I really had a problem with the spring strength. Hurt my thumb to close the knife even with the pinch method. So I took it apart (had to buy a set of good small torx drivers) and took two coils off the spring. I'm a bit of a klutz and had the devil's own time getting everything back together. But I did, and it's enough of a difference to suit me.

Picked up my first PM2 with a wharnie blade and VaporTech ZrOC coating. We'll see how it compares to other black coatings that Spyderco uses. I hope Spyderco releases a few more knives in this steel. Is there tons of it out there just waiting to be turned into knives? I have no idea.

After much anticipation it’s finally here. The last knife I would ever part with! I’ve been lusting after one of these since the first time I saw one. I can’t believe how lucky I got to find this thing. It is absolutely pristine! There isn’t a mark on it. I looked over it with a fine toothed comb. There isn’t the slightest speck. Even on the pocket clip. Never mind never been used. I don’t think it’s ever even been carried. Even the pivot tool was still unopened in its airtight sealed baggie. Couldn’t be happier with this one. Huge thank you to @birdave and @ChazzyP for firing up the interest in the first place. This is cross-posted from the Photo Gallery thread in the Balisong Sub . . .

------------------------------------

Just received this in the mail today . . .

It's the Kaiju designed by Sanford Owen the co-founder (with Ray Laconico) of Monterey Bay Knives (MBK).

There's not much info about this knife available; not even an old webpage on MBK's website about it.

Found a variety of posts by Sanford on Instagram & Facebook going back to 2022 regarding its development & its subsequent release in 2024 but it was apparently produced in very limited numbers & is no longer available for sale from MBK, which is a shame because it is a very nice balisong.

The 4.5" blade (w/a 4" cutting edge) is made of S35VN which sits on bushings (of some sort) & bronze phosphorous washers in channel-less & latchless Ti handles with interchangeable Ti & CF "weight plates." See: https://www.facebook.com/montereyba...le-on-the-websiteon-bushing-/872651738201577/

The knife weighs 5 oz & flips very smoothly. I don't do tricks but I'm sure anyone qualified could do some amazing tricks with this knife.

It's a unique design & unlike any of the other balis in my collection, which is why I bought it.
