KG Guncote , is that the stuff that Crusader Forge uses? Is it on par with DLC as far as durability?

KG Guncote is the same brand CRK used on their one piece knives but I believe this is a different formulation. CRK does the coatings "in house", so you can get them refinished for a fee..Not sure that is possible with DLC. They moved away from sending out for different coatings after the crosshatch sebenzas- Something about not having control of quality as well as turn around time.
I am not familiar with the coatings on Crusader Forge, but could be? KG is pretty durable if I was to judge by the one piece knives made many years ago.
 
MolokaiRider, Nice photo of the Smoke Jumper (#3753) . I just got mine yesterday after waiting for a month. Seems the first one sent got by USPS to Seattle (about 42 miles North of me) on 4 Aug 18, but has not been seen since then. The second attempt I received the wrong knife, but the third time was the charm. I have never jumped into a fire situation, but have done Rough Terrain Jumps with all the same gear, and was luck to walk away from a jump on DZ Rough, which after landing and crashing to the ground, my first words were "Thank You God" and I meant every one of the words. John

Glad you survived that! I can appreciate the feeling after those close calls! It definitely renews a persons Faith!

Enjoy your Smoke Jumper, I have been the last few days and am glad I was able to get one from SKBlades. Easy to order and great customer service!

You should ask Adam Purvis on IG about a custom clip, I almost bought a Tyche just to match a clip of his with it. I am really not big on Timascus, but on the blue 811...incredibly awesome looking.
