Everyone's latest acquisitions!

The Soft Overkill arrived today and I have to say this is next level sh!t even for Shiro. It starts with the level of detail present in the bears head engraving.

From there you can go to the flawless polish on the flats of the blade, the edge polish (noticed my reflection in the edge), the polished pivot hardware with anodized collars, the single screw construction, the same milling from the Russian Overkill in the micarta, and obviously the roller bearing action. Absolutely no regrets with this one. If you're able to enter the lottery for the maroon version this weekend I'd say do it!

The blade profile, clean grinds are absolutely appealing. I can see why people say they're worth the money, or even a step ahead of Olamic/ Chris Reeve.

My Lion Steel M5 arrived! It's been on the list for a while now, with Sleipner 4.5" steel blade and canvas Micarta handle, designed by Michele ‘Molletta’ Pensato. I could have gotten a Lion Steel fixed blade in M390, but I got this one because I didn't have any Sleipner steel in the collection.

It has a rounded spine, which some bushcraft purists will lose their mind about. I own a bunch of ferro rods and have used them to start campfires, but when I'm out hiking they're purely a backup fire starter and I'm reaching for my jet lighter first and windproof matches second, because there's only so much time for camp routines after a day in the backpack harness. Ferro rods often come with tiny strikers I can use if I need one. What I like more is the comfort to move up the blade for finer work with the rounder spine. I've got plenty of other fixed blades with sharp spines if that's what I need.

After missing out on one recently, I was fortunate to find another Spyderco Gin1 PS G10 Blackhawk (C24GPS) to complete my 3 knife Blackhawk set.

The Blackhawk is the smaller variant of the Renegade which I have also been able to collect as a complete 3 knife set.

The only Spyderco that I'm looking to add to my collection right now is a PS version of the black FRN Native 3. I've been looking for one of these for over a year and have yet to see one yet. Lots of PE versions but no PS versions have ever come to my attention.

Just gotta keep looking . . . that why they call it "collecting." LOL! ;)

I acquired this one the old fashioned way. It was a piece of 1095 flat stock a couple of days ago. First knife I’ve ever made but gave it a try because my 11 year old wanted to see if I could. It was a 3 generation effort and I think it turned out ok. My parent’s beagle approves anyway.B4940BBD-2223-4EE7-BD7C-C98137B8A71A.jpegD5222812-5F1B-41C9-84F5-E05787DFE1E2.jpeg

Awesome collection! I've always loved those old school Spydies! :D

Atomic Defender Mini OTF arrived today. Considering the price, I wasn’t expecting much, but I must say I’m marginally impressed. The blade is nothing to write home about. But as far as overall build quality, it feels pretty damn good. It’s got a decent shape, it feels solid and comfortable in the hand, and the action really isn’t bad at all. Not as buttery-smooth as a Microtech, but then at about 1/10th of the price, I wouldn’t expect it to be. Almost no blade wobble, which was maybe the biggest surprise. It’ll most likely be best served as a letter opener and a fidgiter, and a cutter when I’m too lazy to get up and grab a real one. It’s still better than I expected, so no regrets at all on this one.
