Everyone's latest acquisitions!

Just got this CTS-XHP Native Chief in, sort of as a compliment to my serrated K390 Police 4 (the steels, one being easy to sharpen and grind, other not so much, and plain-edge, is the complimentary aspect, because I like a large, useful pocketknife) as well as... it's Halloween, man! This model is really interesting. It isn't a lightweight, like my Police 4.... LW, but this has no liners, where as the Police 4 LW has liners. Interesting! It reminds me of a Buck insofar as the knife is made in the backlock, and that feels like it will last.

It is described as a "high hardness 440C, or stainless D2". Goes to show stuff does not need to be that fancy. Look at my (let's call it "plus") new Spyderco in 440C+ ! Proud as heck of it! Funny, bet a lot of Instagram-steel nerds would trip out if I told them that this knife or any XHP knife was essentially beefed up 440 series. But goes to show, the 440 is all in the quality of the maker.

Also, got a purple anodized Boker USB in D2, so I can have a TRULY CA legal OTF (My Microtech UTX-75 is 2.2in, it needs to be under 2", blah, I am not too worried) but this also serves the dual purpose of being something I don't have to fear banging and bashing around as much as the Microtech, plus, the purple is my style. Wonderful little knife to give me some confidence in the OTF platform.

Carrying all of this with a new-to-me 74mm Vic Executive, my favorite small-size SAK, with beautiful custom scales! Because, you gotta carry your SAK.

What are the odds?

A good week ago I stumbled upon a nice little Koji Hara (see post #13,209 on page 661 of this thread) looking for a new home.

Today I open my browser to do some....browsing and BladeForums-checking out and whatnot, and then from some dark little internet alley I hear this voice go "hey, psst, yeah you, wanna buy a knife?" So I said, yeah sure why not? And this is what I end up with.

Koji Hara Drop Point Hunter #345 in the Loveless style, hollow-ground ATS-34, soldered nickel silver guard, tapered tang, either Thuja (as per seller's guess) or Amboyna (Snake Wood) burl (similar knife at Arizona Customs), black liner.

If anyone can ID the type of wood for sure, it'd be appreciated.

I dig the CRK-style sharpening choils you gave them.
Thanks - you're right they do resemble CRK choils. I was inspired by the Tony Bose Lanny's Clip... This straight angled choil (at any size) avoids the "a sharpening choil can catch on something" issue (which it can, I used to put in a round choil.) I happen to think they also look pretty sharp 🤓 and they make it very easy to sharpen the beard.

I picked up an Osbourne to match my CF S90V Bugout. The Bugout arrived sharp but stiff, this one opens smoothly but only the tip will even cut paper. The final bevel is tiny and might be around 30 dps. Looks at least that... I'm going to take it to 18 dps on my WE, so I'm not worried about it.

Well, you won't have to worry about those Cheeto fingers turning your knife orange

My mom says I'm cool...
EDIT: Oh, just realized there are Cheetos in the picture! Thought you were being randomly insulting as per our usual interactions 😂
No, that is a good one. I left that one wide open for you. I swear, no way I'll convince you of this, but I swear they are not my Cheetoes, man! I'm holding them for a friend! But seriously - I'm more of a Calbee-seaweed chip man myself.
