Picked up a knife that was on my radar and an add-on hatchet purchase. The Cold Steel Pendleton Hunter has been on The List under buy when better steel available. I kept tripping over a dirt cheap version in 4116 steel, but that wasn't quite what I was looking for. AUS 10A (Aichi Steel Company) was good enough to trigger a purchase of this model. This knife has great ergonomics, with a longer than usual handle (partly obscured by the shadow of my camera tripod in this rushed shot) for a knife blade this size (3.5"), which fits my grip better than the shorter handles out there do. It's about the same weight as my Cold Steel AK-47 folder.

The Prandi German Style Hatchet Classic has a 6.5"(4.25" cutting edge)/1.8lb axe blade (C45/1045 carbon steel) on a 15" hickory handle. Prandi are an Italian axe company that caught my attention this last year and it was only a matter of time before I bought something of theirs. A local knife retailer picked up the line to sell and that was that. I haven't found many hatchets I've liked, but I think this one has enough heft and handle for me to warm up to. If I really like it, I'll likely buy one of their bigger axes. Now time to break out the linseed oil when I get a spare moment.

Chris Reeve Small Sebenza 31 Tanto

View attachment 1952131

Nice! This summer I picked up a similar small Sebenza 31 Tanto with glass blasted handle, but in Magnacut with ebony inserts - it's the CRK that I carry more now, which previously was my small Inkosi PJ Tanto in S45VN. I just wish that I get could the blade to snap open faster without hurting my thumb.
