I've been wanting to get a Fallkniven knife for a while, but a recent sale made it happen a lot sooner than expected. The Fallkniven F1 with a VG10 blade a hair under 4" is smaller than what I'd normally want for this type of knife, but it just feels right in the hand. It's well balanced and just floats in the hand as you move it around. It's very light and feels smaller than it is, without feeling like less of a knife.

The convex grind gives you a lot better slicer than you'd expect from a knife this thick. The slightly protruding tang hammer at the end of the handle is rounded and is less noticeable in the hand than on a lot of other knives. If I was going to put a lanyard on a knife this size, I'd prefer the hole to be a little further back, but it's probably not a knife I'd add a lanyard to. This Peter Hjortberger design is only a hair lighter than my Benchmade Leuko, but there's little doubt I'd prefer to carry the F1 and not just because it still has that shiny new knife smell, but it definitely still has that shiny new knife smell.
