Everyone's latest acquisitions!

A couple recent Bokers from the fringe. The Boker Arbolito Hunter is a 4.72" long flat grind blade made of N695 steel, with a Guayacan ebony wood handle, and made in Argentina. I like having the lower piece hilt, without the intrusive upper hilt, and this knife has good ergonomics. I've been noticing a lot of recent sales and reduced stock from the Arbolito branch of Boker, so I made sure to grab one, but I'm not certain if this is just a regional market bias.

The Manly Wasp is a 2.8" flat grind blade of 14C28N, with a G10 handle, and made in Bulgaria. The Wasp has an extra set of walk and talk than most slipjoints have that might make you try things you would only do with a locking blade, so you should probably not do those things and still treat it like a slipjoint.

I also highly recommend The Story of Knife Steel, by Dr. Larrin Thomas for people interested in the history of knife steel and the people making things happen in the cutlery industry.

So I see you have an older version F3 paired with a newer version. Any noticeable difference in quality or performance?

I got on a Curtiss kick last year and now have several. What I have noticed the most about the older vs newer models is the difference in the scale thickness. The older ones seem to have thinner scales. Even ones produced in 2023, that have Magnacut blades, still use thinner scales.

Newer ones, to me being the ones with the skelotonized blade (cutout instead of fuller), all have thicker scales.

Other than that, performance, quality, action, all seem fairly consistent to me. I generally find that it is a great brand and very sturdy knife.

New to me.

Bought a user Seb 31 Large MC a little while back, replaced thumbstuds with Zirc thumbstuds and then sent it in to Way of Knife to get a DTOM theme (corny and overdone, I know, but I appreciate the meaning behind it).

Mind if I ask a ballpark figure what that mod cost?
