Everyone's latest acquisitions!

This just in today, a Yangge with zirconium inlay which has a little bit of texture to it.

I know some don't like clips fastened from the inside, but to me it gives the knife a sleeker more finished look when it is done this way

The M390 blade is ground down fairly thin so it should be a good slicer

1 of 3 bottles of Eagle Rare 10 that I bought last week (on top of the 12 bottles of Eagle Rare 10 that I bought a couple weeks before) at a hole-in-the wall liquor store in El Cerrito, CA that surprisingly had such large stash of this very hard to find bourbon for just $50/bottle together w/the CRKT Shizuka noh Ken (the smaller knife) that I purchased around the same time paired with the larger CRKT Otanashi noh Ken that I've owned for some time.

A couple new knives that are variations on ones I already own. My third Grohmann No.1 (made in Canada), this one with a black linen Micarta handle and 4" high carbon steel blade.

I also picked up an Opinel #12 Slim, with a 5" blade of Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel and a French beechwood handle. I already have an Opinel #15 Slim that I get a lot of use of, but there are times when I want a slightly smaller fruit knife/miniature rapier. I find myself using these longer, thinner Opinel designs more than the regular versions.

Just received the Spyderco HIC Ceramic Mule (MT40) that I bought a little over a week ago when it was released.

Took the black scales off my Z-Max Mule & put them on the HIC. The HIC looks pretty good in "all black" to me and I also like the way the blade shines at an angle in a couple of the pics below.

One of the holes in the handle was drilled kinda wonky (sorry, didn't take a pic of that) but the scales lined up ok.

Early complaints are that the factory edge on the HIC isn't that sharp.

The edge on the HIC clearly was NOT as sharp as the one on the Z-Max (or the other Mules that that I had on hand to compare with it) but 20 light strokes on both sides with diamond rods inserted in my Sharpmaker noticeably improved its sharpness.

When I compared the profiles & thickness of the HIC with the other Mules mentioned & I really didn't notice any difference. So, I put the HIC into a standard Mule Bolatron sheath and it fit fine. Didn't notice any rubbing on the blade and am glad I didn't buy the "special" HIC Bolatron sheath for it.

So, I'm entirely satisfied w/my purchase. :)

The HIC joins these 8 other Mules in my collection: LC200N, MagnaCut, M390, M398, S45VN, S90V, S110V & the Z-Max.

--------------------------------------------

BTW, for those who are interested, please take note that Spyderco has so-far only released about 500 of all of the HICs that they made (which Sal has said was around 2k) but the total # available for sale will probably be less than that due to breakage, quality control & other issues.

Also note that flippers are already trying to sell the HIC on EB for prices ranging from $200-400.

TazKristi has already said that there will be another release of the HIC soon.

So, if you would still like to buy one, just be patient and keep an eye on the HIC thread for notice of any further HIC releases HERE in the Official Spyderco Forum or in another thread that may be created to announce a further release over there.
