Everything Lefties thread

If you're not actively purchasing "Port-siders": do you look for ambi-knives?
Or do you just go with the flow, and buy "regulat" designs?
I have a $50 threshold for "regular" knives when buying for myself.
And that's only if I REALLY like the design, or it's a ridiculous bargain. Which is quite rare in both cases.
Otherwise I only purchase true leftys and completely ambi knives.

I reached out to Spartan Blades to ask about the SHF being made lefty. I mentioned they have so many awesome designs that are lost when the clip is flipped for lefty carry. Was told "no chance, much to the chagrin of the lefties in the shop." He said with the clips being swappable, and the double thumbstuds it wasn't worth resetting everything and delaying production. So I'm going to stick with my all- black model, and maybe a solid titanium if I ever find one. I really like the knife a lot.

I’ve recently thinned out my collection and sold virtually all my right handed knives. I added some auto’s, a lefty Hinderer, and another lefty Umnumzaan is on the way. It feels so liberating!!!! LOL…

I'll admit to looking at a couple of lefty Spyderco Military models earlier today...

I am not a liner or frame lock fan at all but my Spyderco Military lefty is the single exception. It's awesome.

Here's a question for you guys:
Can you swap a blade from a RH Military model: into the lefty knife?
My current Military has S90V steel under the hood, and I REALLY love that blade...
It it's an easy swap: I'm in even MORE trubble!

I've never looked at Hinderer. Is the Halftrack their smallest locking folder, and is it really a slicer? Have they made this model left handed?

Won't work.
The lock face is ground at the opposite angle.
So, if swapped it should move normally, and if the detent hole is drilled through the blade it should stay closed, but it will never lock because the lock bar can't engage the lock face.

Thanks! That's sort of what I figured; but wanted to double-check. 👍
So do I want another S30V knife??

I had a few expensive pieces that were righty only. A Herman, Norseman, couple of Hinderer’s. Then a righty Hinderer opened up in my left pocket and cut me. That’s when I decided to clear out the righty’s.
When my number for a Skiff came up I passed. As much as I would love to own one, I’m not dropping 975 on a knife that’s not completely comfortable for me. Now the only righty’s I own are a few knives that I carry righty when the situation calls for it. Everything in my left pocket is either ambi or a dedicated lefty. I enjoy my collection much more now that it’s completely functional for my carry needs.

I reached out to Pro-tech about a possible left-hand Malibu, or at least ambi-drilled scales, since I know many of us are not interested in their autos and the button lock lends itself well to left hand use. I was told that they are considering it for a future run but not until the current demand/orders are fulfilled since it would require retooling.
