Experience with the Council Tool splitting mauls?

Rinaldi has a harder heat treatment and usually better out-of-the-box cheek geometry than Falci, though Falci's axes aren't bad. Some of their models are actually made in Slovenia by Tovarna Kos (if it has a very rounded shape to the corners upon receipt it's probably by them) and some are made by Rinaldi under contract, while some are made by Falci themselves (usually with a lot of coarse finish grinding all over the head.)
Cool, I guess we will see when it gets here - sounds likes it’s gonna be like trying to decipher the history of a vintage head 😆

Iltis ox head splitting axe showed up from Lee Valley. Kicks butt! Same as stihl splitting axe I think.

Update:

The ox head and Falci both get stuck bad in eucalyptus due to flat cheeks. Exacerbated by the coarse grind on the ox head. Broke handles on both, probably re profile. The Falci might go on a 40” stick.

I got a 6lb Aussie block splitter that works much better. Also a weco Japan 6lb axe eye with a high centerline that works well.

The husqvarna splitting axe has a narrow bit that doesn’t have a lot for the wood to grab and the length gives more leverage to remove it. Anyone lever lengthened a handle…?

Current favorite splitter is my goldimaul. The council ole no 7, not too heavy, not too light. Axe eye handle much preferred.
