Exploded view of Vegas Special

Love the work.
Question- is there any type safety on the blade latch? I know the 22 won't have much recoil, but is there any way the blade will open with your finger on the trigger?

Hi Mike, nope theres no way the blade can open unless you press the lock back tab all the way down. The lock spring is plenty strong. The blade has a false back edge and cant cut the trigger finger when opened. It wouldnt be a good idea to sharpen the back edge on this one because its partially exposed.

Thanks for the swollen head.
Yep I've been in the magazines a few times. Check out the cover of "Knives 09" Theres a gun on there! Heres the Barnes and Noble link: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/results.asp?WRD=Knives+2009

Oh yeah no I know about the books, thats what I was reffering to in the previous post. I got off my ass and looked in '08 very nice Bruce. :) I cant remember if your are an ABS MS but I believe you are. That wasnt the fluted MS dagger in the '08 book was it? If it is I must be off track because I thought you had 'crowns' on the guards. Maybe Im thinking of someone else.

Either way your work is incredible. Let me put it to you in a different way... My wife is no knife junkie and she is checking your threads regularly. :D She loves the knives Ive made her (and she is brutally honest, which in my mind is a positive trait. Even if it hurts the pride at times... :( )

She loves your work and it helps that you live in WA. (she grew up there and has a place for it in her heart).

BTW thanks for pointing out that '09 is available I had no idea, cant wait to order mine. :)

All our best,

Anthony and Rebecca. :)

Anthony and Rebecca, Thanks again. We like it here in Washington and will never leave. If you guys travel this way again be sure to stop in.
I have a website if you would like to show Rebecca more of my gun/knifes. Did you have a look at Brutus the Axe/gun? Ive found that many ladies like these type of firearm as they dont see them as a threat or harmful but instead can see the thought and hours involved. Also they all load from the front and any self respecting robber would never go for that. Darn slow for drive-by shooting too. :)

Bruce, you never cease to amaze me!
I can't imagine how a man can make something so precise and make all the parts fit together so smoothly! Just making a folding knife alone is a challenge.
I can't put how I feel into words!
I hope I get to meet you again someday!!!

Thanks so much guys! I have to show these things to somebody, my family is tired of looking at this stuff.

Bruce, we both had a good look at your site and I can assure you (I feel I can speak on her behalf in this regard :) ) that the more violent and scary lookin the better :D

Also after a second look (actually more like the tenth...) at your site the fluted dagger in Knives '08 is not your Mastersmith dagger.

What does a Mastersmith do with the set anyway? Out of curiousity have you sold any of them or do you keep them forever and pass them down?

Id opt for the latter over the former but thats just me...

Most all smiths sell their sets off to pay bills. Thats what I did too. It would be nice to be able to buy them back some day to display and hand down.

Here are the handle scales. I inlayed some mother of pearl in walnut but the wood was so light colored the pearl wouldnt show up well so I stained them with dark brown fieblings leather dye. Working on coats of linseed oil now.

I want to show the steps I used on the inlays on another thread. Actually these are the first for me and Im impressed with the fit.

Glad to see everything fit! Whoo Hoo!

David, The only thing I suggest next time is to waterjet the plates from 1/16" thick steel and cut them very very slow so there is no kerf at all. One side is perfect the other side is simply OK. The kerf on the plate added to the kerf on the inner plate makes a looser fit.

That and I can mirror the opposite side for perfect fit.

Perfect. I may make another set for this pistol. If so I will change the shape of the inlays. He may want a Vegas theme. I think it may look cool with Hearts, Spades, Diamonds and Clubs in MOP with Stabilized wood next time.
