It seems to me that there is a very vocal crowd of people who feel the need to bash anyone who opposes their viewpoints about a specific knife/maker. It's almost impossible to find a forum criticizing Medford knives or CRK knives. No knife is perfect. There are always issues that should be expressed, but again and again I notice those with valid criticisms being shut out of any discussion on a knife or maker.

Is it that people feel an intense need to defend their expensive purchase? There are always problems with products and those experiencing them should be given the proper means to express them to other potential customers.

Is it just me or is there a serious case of blatant fanboyism going on within the knife comunity? It seems that nobody is willing to accept either change or criticism without feeling the need to pick up their sword and shield to defend their favorite maker to the death.

They're just tools guys. And in order to have the best tools, we have to allow criticism to improve them.

What are your opinions? Am I just going crazy?

There are both fanboyz and haterz for almost any knife brand out there.
Laugh at the drama, then go out there and enjoy your knives. :)

You are just going crazy. No knife fanboys.

Unless you disparage my favorite knives. Then, I'll say mean things about you.

You think people here are being treated unfairly/bullied? Then report it to the mods.

You think mods are treating people unfairly here? Nothing you can do about that.

You've been here a month and made 6 posts. You should be able to, eventually, learn to live with those big mean fanboys who like the brand you don't like.

I was on a different forum one time (not blade forums) and a poster claimed that they were paid to astroturf for a company. Not a term I was familiar with, but google it and it makes you think. Basically, people actually make a living by creating multiple accounts and hyping one brand while downgrading others. Makes you take anything you read on the net with a grain of salt, which we should all know to do anyways, but we really don't when we are on a site to enjoy a hobby.

He thinks no one has criticized CRK or Medford knives around here?
He obviously hasn't read many of the thread in General Knife Discussion. :D

I kind of ready this as he got vibed out of some other forums for "telling it how it is".

So now he's here but feeling a bit shy.

I haven't been on this site very long, but I've been on many others over many different hobbies and it seems to always follow a pattern. Either someone loves a product and praises it, someone unfairly bashes it and starts a bullshit bandwagon, or someone brings up a fair point and is drowned out by either the extreme haters or the extreme fanboys. It seems so hard to find fair back and forth critique that is reasonable and justified. I've always relied on other peoples' experiences when purchasing a product, and those opinions and criticisms mean quite a bit to me and have saved me from wasting ten's of thousands of dollars on products that I would have come to dislike. I don't mean to criticize this forum, but rather the enthusiast community and some members of it.

There are definitely some fanboyz AND haterz here that will show up to threads about certain manufacturers if they see them, and crap up the thread till it gets closed.
Some of them can get rather tiresome...but some of them end up banned for doing it too many times. :)

It isn't perfect, but a fair bit of criticism or praise manages to be expressed for the most part.

Hmm. Can't say I've heard of this. My crk is too loud to hear what you are saying. Or maybe it is my very popular around here SOG. Or my non-controversial ZT.

With 6 posts here wouldn't a "what knife should I get" thread be more appropriate rather than a troll bait thread?

When you have a passion for something it tends to show.;)

Bold is truth, and it should also extend beyond the interwebs.

This is why we can't have fair discussions. Why does my number of posts on a single website have anything to do with this discussion. Do I need to be popular before I can state an opinion. Sorry. I should have have ignored the thousand other threads about "what knife to buy" and started another. I want to have a civilized discussion but it seems some people can't handle that. This is exactly the problem this thread is about.

Welcome to BF, Daniel.

The fanboiz and haterz in the knife community are actually pretty tame. Check out the high end, gaming computer hardware community .

OP, one thing I can suggest is if you want to talk about CRK, ask your question in the CRK forum. The same with any other brand as possible. You're more likely to get honest feedback, so long as you yourself don't come across sounding like a hater. When you ask questions that beg for thoughtful critical response in the general forum, well, you get what you get. Often that's people posting just to raise their post count.

Galldarn, will you look at that! 593 posts!

Ooops, sorry.
