I don't see any criticism of Bladeforums or it's members in this post.It seems to me that there is a very vocal crowd of people who feel the need to bash anyone who opposes their viewpoints about a specific knife/maker. It's almost impossible to find a forum criticizing Medford knives or CRK knives. No knife is perfect. There are always issues that should be expressed, but again and again I notice those with valid criticisms being shut out of any discussion on a knife or maker.
Is it that people feel an intense need to defend their expensive purchase? There are always problems with products and those experiencing them should be given the proper means to express them to other potential customers.
Is it just me or is there a serious case of blatant fanboyism going on within the knife comunity? It seems that nobody is willing to accept either change or criticism without feeling the need to pick up their sword and shield to defend their favorite maker to the death.
They're just tools guys. And in order to have the best tools, we have to allow criticism to improve them.
What are your opinions? Am I just going crazy?
What I see are facts (yes, there certainly are a lot of fanboys within the knife community), and I see a guy asking about them, and expressing his opinions about them, and I don't see anything wrong with that. Like always, if someone doesn't like what he says, they are free to ignore him.
What I do think is wrong is other members trying to tell him, or any member new or old, what they should or should not post. I also think it's wrong to use someones post count to determine what they have the right to post.
I've been on this forum longer than anyone else in this thread so far, does that make my opinions more valid than all of yours? Does it mean I have a right to tell you what you can and cannot post? Of course it doesn't.
Give the new guy a break. He didn't insult this forum, or your mamma, or your religion, or your favorite knife. And he has just as much right to start a thread and express any opinion he wants to on this forum, just like the rest of us.
