Factory seconds sale?

Looks like the factory seconds sale will be online after all. Thanks Sal and Spyderco team for offering this up for the people that can’t make it in person.

Hi Buellrider, (nice scooter BTW)

Sorry, but we're currently planning on doing the "customer Appreciation Sale" at the factory. All of the powers that be (city, country, etc.) have given us the go ahead as long as we strictly follow their requirements. So it's going to be "different". Check our website.

In the thread on the factory forum there was a post copied from Facebook that said there was also going to be an online sale. I don't know if that is true or wishful thinking on someone else's part, but you might want to look into it.

The knives are safe to use or they wouldn't be sold at all. Safe to use does not mean free of play, blade centered when closed, free-swinging when unlocked, easily flicked open or any of the other things people deem important.

From what I've seen watching people shop at these sales, "I would take a chance" is the exception, not the rule. When I agree to proxy shop for someone, I make it very clear that if they went to the sale, they could choose a knife with defects they can live with. Sending me instead will get them a knife with defects that I could live with, and I may well be less picky than they are. Usually it works out. Sometimes it doesn't.
Are you accepting any proxy requests for this year?

Sal, here is the FB post that yablanowitz yablanowitz is speaking of.

Very odd that this was posted only on FB, and late on Friday evening, but not on any other official channels. I agree with poster koenigsegg at the Spyderco factory forum, that should have been posted officially at the Spyderco forums first, if anywhere, and not on FB.

Yeah, well I don't do Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok or anything else. Here and the factory forum are all the social media I use, and that's not likely to change anytime soon.

I don't do any of them either. I do have a Facebook account, from long ago, which I only access for important things, such as county info and Spyderco sales.

I don't either, guys. Don't have to have an account to look at the post I linked, however.

That's too bad. Was really hoping to have access to a few knives I'd otherwise never likely get a shot at.

Cheers to the in-person sale running smoothly.

Sal, the “official” Spyderco Instagram posted a few days ago saying there will be an online factory seconds sale (posted here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CG-rqVcHZ4U/?igshid=1mp46hjhkqu0f). Is this not Spyderco’s official Instagram? If it’s official, do you know why that was posted if there isn’t actually going to be an online sale?

Thanks,
Dan
See my first post, #26, above. I linked the FB post too. Sal still said there was no online sale after that. I don't know.
