Got my new Endura today - made by Spyderco with the Emerson Wave.
Basic information is below. There is much good news:
- The edge is a true double (V) grind (unlike the single-side grind on the Emersons). Finally!!
- Same handle as a regular Endura. There is a Boye dent.
- The FRN handle is a dark blue. It is so dark that from a distance, or in subdued lighting, it looks black.
- The clip is silver with a black Spydie on it. Looks good.
- The blade profile is more of a spear point not as pointy as the regular Endura.
- Unlike my Endura lightweight, the blade has a hollow grind. (My only dislike).
- Overall blade length is about 1/8 less than a standard Endura. The sharpened portion is the same length on both versions.
- The thumb ramp has generous grooving and feels good.
- Blade markings: Spyderco VG-10, Seki CityJapan, Emerson Pat.#5.878.500.
- The blade is perfectly centered when closed. Wooo Hooo!
- There is no horizontal or vertical blade play. This is as tight as any Spyderco I have owned.
- The Spyderco box is marked "C10PGYW Endura Wave.
- This wave is deeper than even the second generation Emerson Waves. This thing has worked EVERY time I have pulled it out of my pocket. Quite unlike the first generation Wave on my SOCFK that only seemed to work when no one else was watching.
A Spyderco with a Wave. Who thought it would ever become a reality? I really like this knife.
