I just had a roast in the oven:( Bet its more exciting when you open yours:eek:

lol roast sounds good! I just got the kiln heated up to 400 for a second temper... lots of 1084! This is the 1084 everyone speaks of, Aldo's 1084... it is a very quality material with added vanadium for more carbide distribution. This steel is known to stay very sharp and is tough stuff.

I have been thinking about it recently and I will be making more ferro fire starters, I recently purchased a massive block of jade g10 and will also be using other materials... maybe even wood!

Actually I have a spalted maple one ready to go!

I'll have to order a knife with jade G-10 from you. I just have to decide what blade to get.

Well I have my first Fairley knife ordered. A .36 chopper. To take with me in the big woods and swamps up here. Nice to have a big knife if we are out tracking an escaped prisoner. But that has only happened once in almost 20 years.Talk about paper work but we did track him down and caught him in a shop he broke into in the middle of no where!Looking forward to it!

Keep me posted when you get it BC! My brother is on a search for a chopper(OK I might be too!!) for use around WI. Like to hear how they work near our neck of the woods.

Mang you will be happy:)but who is Farly?;)

er you mean Fairly :)

I'm pushing for hybrid handles.. part G10, part horse stall mat.. With gloves it doesn't matter.. w/o gloves pure G10 can be a sore hand after 30mins of chop chop... Perhaps I grip too tight..

His choppers are great :) a bit on the heavy side (which helps dig deep) and ht'd to chop whatever you encounter :) grinds are cool too :) Just tell him to make sure it's sharp :) hehe

Yea I missed up with the name sorry Daniel. I do have a chopper addiction with 10 out of 12 customs being choppers. Up here the weather can turn on you in seconds and a buddy of mine just shot a 450 lbs black bear yesterday.with the increase of wolves and cougars being sited up here and being followed from my bow stand by a wolf. I like a big knife along with one of my 44 mags or my 454 Casull. That Casull sends 300 grain hollowpoints at 1650 feet per second and 1800 foot pounds. There is nothing going to take a hit from that and live. I am going to start gun hunting again but with a handgun. Been strictly bow hunting for the last 15 years.

Bears come right up to my shop, that's why I'm always making knives. I'm rocking it like Danny Trejo in Machete. :D

300 grains, wow that is serious. I like that idea, handgun hunting.

I just got in from the shop a few minutes ago, I have been working on all kinds of stuff. I just shaped the handles on a crazy MCAM tanto I made, it is super wild with a swedge and a crazy grind.

I have a santoku style chef's knife in the works, .070 carbidized Titanium with black micarta scales and huge 3/8" Titanium flared tubing attaching the handle.

These are all in various stages of completion...

Titanium/micarta/titanium Santoku, O1/mcam/ss tanto and a kitchen paring knife in O1/maple/copper.

The paring knife is actually the first knife I ever heat treated and one of the first I ground, I ground it a long time ago on a 4x36 grinder and am keeping it for my kitchen. It turns out maple dust smells like maple syrup!

:D yep O1 and it is 1/8" thick with a thick swedge to keep it strong and fast. Flared stainless tubing, the scales are attached with super strong west system g-Flex epoxy but the tubing alone could keep them on, I plan on doing more flared tubing now that I am getting the hang of it. Chisel of course. :)
