Wish it was fog I was seeing. Surrounded by smoke right now. Have to evacuate the folks again today. These wildfires are kicking our ass right now.

I wish you the best and hope they get those fires under control.

We have had a few this year in my area as well but nothing like what you guys are dealing with down in Texas. My parents live in central TX, I really everyone gets some rain.

Well we can replace the material things, at least most people are ok. Where in central Texas are your folks? I'm supposed to be heading that way for some dove hunting if we can get this fire taken care of.

AZ and OR have had some big ones recently.. couple nights ago we could smell the smoke from the Warm Springs fire.. sad the "people" who manage these forests still don't get it.. NATURE NEEDS TO BURN REGULARLY... we over manage and try to remove fire far too often, then they get out of control... purposefully started frequent burns work best... just the public and the idea of burning doesn't bode well with the masses and the "look" of a burned forest is "upsetting".. sigh..

then add reckless campers to the mix and we get all f'd.. grass fires.. and building too near or in forests is an issue that just adds to the problem..

I love people! ;]

Near Marlin out in the country, we used to do a lot of dove hunting down the road near the Brazos river when I was a kid.

Marlin is nice. I have family from there. You guys have a good day, Just found out that my folks don't have to evacuate again. They got it contained again just 400 yards from their neighborhood. Now I can go make more knives. Talk with you later.

Cool!

I used to live in Austin when I worked for Dell. I miss it a lot.

Yeah Austin rocks! I lived there in 1998-1999, fun town.

You miss living in Texas? O_O I won't go there :) nor will I ask anymore :)

lmao!

Hey guys! I'm just in from the shop, it was a long and good day! I have blisters on my thumbs and some sweet looking knives to show for it. :D

you know.. pics or it didn't happen :D the knives part, I'll pass on blisters :)

lol no pics I think my camera lens is dirty... I hope. Lets just say they look good!

I should buy this special tape for grinding or something (finger protectant lol), Titanium transfers heat too quickly! Some of the knives i ground were only .070 thick, almost zero ground, serious laser style slicers!

I have 3 ti neckers that will be available soon, look out!

Carbidized Ti Poon Neckers?

I only have one at the moment and it is spoken for but I have a bunch more Titanium to cut up! I was going to make more but my saw blade bit the dust after only 4 knives!

For some reason it makes me happy that the Ti eats the saw blades, man it is tough stuff! You can destroy a regular blade with only 1 pass of the Ti, lol impressive to me!

What kind of saw blades do you use?

I use a friction blade for a regular "skil saw." A good metal cutting bandsaw will make short work of the Ti from what I hear. I once tried a nice Bosch jigsaw blade on the Ti and it literally rounded the teeth off after 1/16"! The Ti will just eat hacksaw blades and files too.

Ok, I didn't know what kind of saw you were using. I was going to say DoAll makes some
good bandsaw blades. You might have to invest in a small band saw. Could be worth it in
the long run.

Excellent idea! I think a bandsaw is going to be my next big shop purchase, this whole grinding to profile thing is tough!

I am considering a converted Dewalt porta-band (with added table) or maybe an industrial vertical/horizontal one. Either way would rock!

That might mean he could carve 'em out quicker,IM....

This is another young artist, this DFK, just like KFU...both are getting caught up in the old Supply & Demand thingy.

Not sure they can Supply 'em as fast as we're Demanding 'em!

When I was taking machine shop, my instructor told us "the fastest way to remove the
most metel is to saw it off".
