Mike,

Great shooting brother!! Nothing like sub-MOA groups!! Sounds like your hunting season will be full of fun and fellowship

Hey you guys! (in my best impression of Sloth from Goonies) Been busy working, not nearly as much time as I used to have to play around on here. Got today off, the wife works 'til 1400 hours, my FIL has a gig tonight and the boy is fast asleep right now. I do miss my time alone to do what I want. Haven't been able to get into the garage either, but have been working on a couple of my fountain pens lately. Ended up flinging some vintage Skrip #32 permnent jet-black ink all over the desk, computer screen, me, the floors and walls last night. When shaking up a vintage ink well, make damn sure the cap doesn't leak...

peace

Well Mangs I spent the morning at the range with a trooper friend of mine. I had mounted a Simmons Aetek Master hunter 4-14 on my Winchester model 70 30-06.I also had put a Sims vibration ring on the barrel.Let me just say I am very happy.Had it bore sighted this morning and after a few clicks to move it left I shot a 3 shot group that was a little bigger than 1/2 inch at 100 yards. My Trooper friend said he would hate to be the guy I ever was after with a rifle.......lol Then I shot my 454 Casull at 75 yards open sights.Keptthem all on a paper plate target. I am pleased with the results. Gun season opens here on the 15th.I had planned on going down to my brothers but I have 2 friends I have not seen in 15 years coming up here to hunt and I just found out the one has 160 acheres up here and he did not realize where I lived. Should be a great time. They use to be my drinking buddies but I quit drinking on 7/12/10 due to the fact I loved rum a little too much like a fith 4 or 5 times a week.I would rather invest in knives and guns instead of making the local bar owners mortgage payment each month.

Nice shooting! Very nice...

Outstanding on all accounts BigCountry!! Time for me to break out the 45LC, kids will be using my rifles;) Good luck with the new hunting land! Always fun and exciting hunting different ground.

All this beer talk, I think I'm gonna brew another stout!! Hmm... breakfast stout again?.... or maybe oatmeal stout? Imperial nut brown is a couple weeks from being bottled..yumm!

I need to brew something for the winter, my beer stash is running low. Something around 10%...

Ohh....ink! Are you making some pens? Sounds cool. I had some cool pens as a kid when I was into calligraphy.

Morning guys...

The epoxy is curing on the Ti backpacker and black/grey edc proto so more grinding on my new run and hopefully some heat treating today as well.

Morning men.Slept way too late this morning. Took my pain killers and sleeping pill because I was having a rough night sleeping. Next thing I know it is 1100. I never sleep this late.

I'm trying to warm up and get back out there, it was cold this morning!

I hope to get the shop started this week, I found a guy that can build for less than my cost on the lumber! (tons of finishing to do but it's a great start!) I have cleared a spot in the woods for it, hopefully it's on soon!

Good luck brother getting it all completed soon. Hard to work with metal when it is cold!! My hat is off to you I could not do it. I don't mind cold hence where I live but if my hands are cold I am done. Have you tried the plastic sheeting? We use to do that a lot when I worked construction when we would rough in rooms and with a heater it was still a little cold but a lot better and work able.

Thanks! Yeah when you have to scrape the ice out of your spark bucket it is getting cold! I thought of one of those bucket warmers for livestock, lol!

I have my area tarped off so that helps a lot.

Hey all. Down time finally. Days and days of wake, work, sleep for a few hours, repeat. 19 hour day yesterday that ended at 03:15. So nice to have a day off.

Hope all of you are doing well.

That's a lot of work! Enjoy the time off!

I'm super busy here with making knives and trying to prepare for winter. Coffee time at the moment... then knives and errands.

Morning men.My son and his fiance are headed down state. They are going to 3 Red Wings games. He is going to get to meet Mr hockey Gordie Howe.Last time he went he met Ted Lyndsay and even bought his book and had it autographed.Lucky for him we have lots of family within 20 miles of Detroit. My mother in lawwill spoil them rotten. Either order out or take them out every night. He has to do something though he is layed off right now. There is suppose to be a corrections academy after the first of the year. The wanted to start one in October but believe it or not they could not find enough qualified people to have one.

Just got back from a weekend of racing 420s in Montreal we did great (6th of 8) considering we don't have a paid coach and aren't used to sailing in such strong currents. Not to mention we don't practice that much either.

Congrats AWC.Practice and a coach really helps and to take 6th out of 8 with neither is great. Daniel as I have been playing with my .36 special I was thinking this knife needs a real name like bigcountry survival knife! This knife will never let anyone down! Devils night last night and my wife comes out in the living room and sees me sitting on the couch with my Ruger Super Black Hawk 44 mag and my DFK .36 sittng on the coffe table. She asks what are you doing and I said hoping someone is dumb enough to try breaking into the house or vehicles. She just shook her head.

Nice! I bet a 420 is screaming fast, lots of fun!

YES!

I like that name too...

I shaped a couple of handles today, an edc proto in black grey and a modded Ti Backpacker with blue black G10. They are looking good! I'll send them off to the photography department for photos soon... :D

I got some new tires for my 4runner after knife making today, they were much needed and today was the last day of the sale. Lol my old tires were literally bald, it is nice to be more mobile again.

When I was waiting on the tires I found something I have been looking around for a while, electric roasting pans for turkeys... I'm going to have the coolest quench oil setup around! I got one for my 28 second oil and one for my 11 second oil, this rocks! I can easily preheat my oil now, no more quenching angle iron until my oil is 130F, just turn it on! I'll be putting some pumps in as well to circulate my oil, it will be excellent!

Man, for someone who does'nt even have their shop enclosed, you're gonna have one nice heat treat set-up, lol.

I can skimp on comfort but not quality! :D They say "heat treat is half the knife." I like the control over everything I have when I do it myself, if a blade is too hard I can just temper it again.

Plus for $25 each I probably couldn't find a cheaper way to store the oil, lol. Throw in some old aquarium pumps and it is a pro set-up!
