It has been a good one so far, I worked on a new knife all day yesterday from early until 11pm. 52100/5160 Damascus with a cord wrap over rayskin. I spent a few hours in the evening cutting a piece of gem grade dinosaur bone for the menuki. (handle charm)

I read one reasons people believed in dragons was that they found dinosaur bones in ancient times and couldn't explain what they were. The porous cell structure of the dino bone often gets replaced by gem grade red jasper or other bright stones, a 100# red jasper hip bone is a sight to see.

The dino bone is local to my area as well. It's mostly jasper and agate which are harder than steel, the stuff takes forever to cut. Sometimes when you cut it the stones smells like motor oil. There is a bright green variety that is slightly radioactive but I prefer the red/black stuff.

So hey, it is a dragon bone menuki!

Cool another video to watch and put like on it!!!! I predict when more people get your knives in their hands you are going to have to hire staff to keep up with the demand!
 
Morning men.We were suppose to get 8 inches of snow but all it has been is rain for the last 2 days. It is cold enough to snow it is only 36 degrees now.

It's about 10 F here, tomorrow the high is supposed to be 16. I was outside almost all day yesterday grinding, I'm taking at least the morning today to stay in and mold sheaths.

The other day it was so cold I snapped my arbor press anvil in half flaring some tube. I hope to get my shop going soon!

Morning men.Just took my morning meds so I am on my way to happy land.After the night I had with my lab fighting over room in the bed I need them!!!

Fighting with the dog for bed space is a tough one! I'd need meds just for that! :D

Morning! A great week to all!


I just looked outside and we have at least 8" of snow, it looks like I will be doing snow removal today! Yarrrgggghhhh! The county doesn't maintain the road and it is about 3 miles long...
 
Long day here today, we have gotten over a foot of snow in the last 24 hours, my wife and I worked almost all day on the road and there is 4" of snow on the end we started on.
 
So I won't bitch about the recent Monsoon here....4" rain/day X 3 days. Clear,so far today.


7 day Muzzleloader season opens this Sat., and I'm off work & off-call until Weds.

Rifle season was a washout,here.....One decent day to hunt,outta 7,but I was @ work.

Other 6 days was either Monsoon rains or 25+ mph sustained winds....and due to damage from that ice storm, we still have too many widowmakers to go in the woods when it's that windy.

Most of Cottonmouth Swamp is semi-flooded.....hope the water level drops a lil more.

47th consecutive season of deer hunting with my B'rers! Wish us luck.

4" of rain a day for 3 days, wow! We got hammered by snow yesterday and did removal all day, lol I fell asleep on the living room floor at 4pm, woke up and did more. Our road was blocked for hours by a stuck truck, lol my pregnant wife snowblowed them out! I shoveled the spot for my new shop but the guy building it is delaying it now because of the weather, last time he came over he had to walk to my house! My county only maintains the roads in town for the most part and it gets really bad here. The only thing I can get them out here for is to inspect my shop. 2 years ago we got 3' in one night, then it rained and froze it all.. we had to hire a dozer to come in, even my shovels wouldn't penetrate it. 5 miles from here there is no snow on the ground, when I bought my place the old homeowner told me we barely got any snow back here, last time I trust anyone on something like that! The people back here can't get along and nothing gets done, if someone is blocking my road when my wife is close to her due date I'm going to take a sawzall to their car to remove it!!! :D
 
Never mind, that's outlandish to use a sawzall when I already have a S7 katana! I need to think practically, the katana doesn't need to plug in!!!!! :D :D :D
