Evening gentlemen. Didn't find much at the fleamarket, the wife got some trinkets and such, I found a few slipjoints and they were all junk and broken. I did get one edged tool though, a cigar cutter. Its a cool solid brass one with a still usable edge.

Just been watching the news tonight, its depressing. Its full on wild west here. 46 murders here so far this year. The whole "speed freak killers" thing with Wesley Shermantine and his partner Herzog are quickly turning into some of the most prolific serial killers as they dig up more bodies. This is all going on 25 minutes from my house. They are speculating over 60 bodies. City police are doing massive sweeps but the force is down 25% because of budget. I am armed and just minding my own business round here. I'm thinking Texas sounds mighty good to me about now.

Brass cigar cutter, nice! I want to make one, they are cool. I used to smoke cigars when I lived in St.T but I can't find good cigars for my budget here in the states. I want to go back to the Dominican Republic, they have the best cigars there and every store will give you a good cigar and a glass of rum while you shop! DR, that place is crazy...

News... I don't get a TV signal and oddly enough I have not for he last 8 years between here and down island.
Oh yeah, no news here but I don't miss it, I have pretty much no idea what is going on, lol. Pretty much all of it just ticks me off so I don't care. I do watch a ton of Netflix and movies... American Chopper lately, I like the fabrication aspect of the show.

It is odd to me that we have no TV... in nearby Durango they get the Albuquerque news which is just funny to me.

Texas, TX is pretty cool in a lot of ways. When I started a business I felt like the State and people had my back.

In TX to pay sales tax you fill out an online free form that consists of your name, your business's name and address. Pay your taxes and you are good.

Here in CO we had to pay a fee, a deposit, fill out tons of complex forms, get codes that had no meaning and add them to the forms, redo it all... it is tough!

Good Morning Guys!

Ohh man that is rough!

My daughter was up a lot last night so I understand! I am still drinking coffee! :D

I'm getting a fair bit done this weekend, I have been very productive and still had some time to rest. I'm working on keychain tools or sheaths, not sure yet... after that I want to go buy some ribs to BBQ! :D

Morning, again, everyone. Damn, I asked for a decaf iced latte at 2230 last night, the girl making drinks is an absolute idiot (I've known her for years, so I have an informed opinion) and never listens, always tries to upgrade my drink, or not charge me or add this and that, basically stealing from her job. The owner is a great guy and I've mentioned to him to keep an eye on her.

I have really tried to cut back on my caffeine intake, I began to rely on it too much, I've gone for natural energy now. Still doing my workouts, carb loading, putting the miles on the bike and now I'm down to averaging 180lbs, it feels good. Now to get my body fat % down to around 15 and I'll be happy.

Good stuff there Xander, I agree.

Murray Carter's book mentioned no caffeine/no alcohol along with a ton of other great stuff I agreed with, I know he can't be too far off on his advice! I just got his new book on Bladesmithing and it is really good, I want one of his knives more than any other.

Yeah, the Chris Carmichel training books (cycling coach) all recommend no caffeine or alcohol either. Although they do say beer can be a partial substitute for post training carb loading. I almost died laughing when reading some old cycling training books by Italian trainers from the 60's, they go so far as even saying to abstain from sex while peak training before a race!!

I do make it a point to be clear in my mind when I am doing very detailed work, jitters or being buzzed really do limit my abilities. I've got some ideas I want to try out coming up with some inlay work and I've screwed up stuff like that plenty of times by rushing it. If it works out I'll be sending some your way Daniel.

-Xander

I agree Xander. I probably drink too much coffee, lol.

Inlay work cool! We have the best inlay artists around in my area, I have seen some amazing stuff.

I am up early!

I have already set up for photos and photographed some knives. I also worked some more on my folder design, I have room for a 1/2" pivot if I want to go super huge! I doubt I will as I am having a hard time finding a lap setup/reamer/washers for that size but I do like the extra mass in that area.

Morning Fairly fanatics! Daniel, I'll be watching for your photos, I always like to see new pics of finished work!

Have a great day y'all !

-Xander

Thanks! I just took a few more and am about to sort through them.

I have more Ti B O K's with different finishes, all one off's!

Do you know what I did for labor day? I LABORED, DAMN IT!!!!haha oh well more money for knives. hope everyone had a good labor day!!!!!!!

Early morning everyone. Back to work today. been off a week. Daniel, I didn't know you liked cigars. I'll have to send you a couple. It's funny you should mention cigar cutters. A while back I thought about asking you to make a blade for one out of a scrap piece of steel. Some how I've ended up with 2 small air cyclinders and was thinking about attaching a blade to one of them. Upon more research I found out it would need a soleniod valve and power supply, not to mention an air supply. Way to much trouble for a cigar cutter. Hmmm.....maybe a mini guillotine.....

Morning men. Its my Friday! I've been running down the "honey-do" list all week gtting ready for Zylers 3rd birthday on Sunday. His actual birthday is 9/11 but were doing the party on Sunday the 9th. Its BYOB so if you're in the neighborhood shoot me an email for the address!

Afternoon men.Happy Labor day!
Good Morning!

I hope it was still a good on! I have always had my own business or worked in the food industry so I know about working on the holidays.

I got the bevels ground on 18 keychain tools so they are almost finished! They have been a ton of work but I want them to rock. I ground the screwdriver to match my favorites from my Craftsman set as I have always liked those screwdrivers.

I opened a can of paint a few times, unscrewed some outlet covers... I was very pleased with the results! It works great on bottles too.

That cigar cutter idea sounds killer! Mount it in some rosewood and I bet a cigar shop would want it.

One day I will make a cigar cutter/folder, that would be cool. Cane sword too, I am slowly planning fun stuff like that.

Evening men.Getting ready for hunting season.Less than a month to the bow season! It is going to be a bloody year for the deer!

Good evening fellas. Xander I will make it by for your boys B day if I can . What time? BYOB? bring your own blade?Daniel , we have a new girl at work and she likes knives so I was telling her about your awesome TBOK knives. I gave her the link to check them out the other day. Today she came to work and told me she asked her dad to buy her one for christmas haha .spreading the disease!

Kevin, 2:00pm @ my house. Bring your own beer, but I know you're not a big drinker. Bring the wife too if she's up to it! New girl that likes knives?! Is she single?! Is she working tomorrow? Is she cute? (Notice my priorities here...) lol :p

Evening guys, I'm on a hunt for some slate now. I found a cool blog post showing a guy who made his own sharpening hone from some locally found rock. There is a interior design store down the street from me going out of business I think I will check out tomorrow for stuff like that, and maybe some of their tile and counter samples for small surface plates an possibly some slate. Daniel, you got any good references for slate in my area?
