I know how you feel Big, when I was buying my own books it was outrageous! I've paid as much as $350 for one book! Nevermind how much my wifes schooling cost, she graduated with 3 degrees and two certifiates.

I've been polishing and buffing those razor scales today. Got them pretty darn shiney now. So I moved on to working the wedge. I take it to the horitontal buffer (buffing wheel in my drill press!) With a 3" loose cotton wheel at 1100rpm loaded with white rouge and everything is going fine, polishing up nicely when it gets grabbed by the wheel and shot into inaccessable crevices in the corner of my garage! I then went over to Tap Plastics across the street from my house and dug through their scraps and cutoff bin and found some bright red opaque acrylic! So I cut out a small piece and take it to the disc grinder, scrub my knuckle and use some four letter words. Grab a file and sandpaper to finish up. Go to prep for assembly and notice a previously over looked detail...I drilled th scales for 1/16" pins and the pivot in the blade is 7/64"! Ugh, oh well, enough for tonight.

So I tear down a scrap motor from a spa and am going to build a buffer with it, we'll see how that goes.

Afternoon men.Got my daughter all situated at college. What a long painfull day yesterday. I felt like my spine was on fire and could not feel my right leg and I hardley did anything.

Nice work on those razors Xander!

I told my grandfather that I had recently started shaving with a DE and that I enjoyed it. He promptly went digging around in his stuff and found four of his father's straights. They all need to be sharpened and/or refurbished before I can use them (which won't be soon as I just don't have the time to learn)

Anywho, pics for it happened. (There are other pictures on the Badger and Blade)

Anyways, I hope all your summers are going well. I'm back at school now. Thankfully I don't have too many hours of class (12 for regular classes + 2 for athletics + a potential 5 for extra French classes) as I have extra responsibilities as the Commodore of the yacht club, coach/captain of the sailing team, and training coordinator/Operations Officer for the Peer Assistance Group. However, I can't complain, especially since the J22 is finally in the water, the Abbott 22's mast was just stepped, and the Tanzer has been well used this summer (or so I am told). I still need to find someone to buy a Sonar that needs a few grand in work, and drill a few holes in the deck of the Martin 242 to find out if it has delaminated, or if the core has completely deteriorated.

Thanx Andrew! That Böker on the right will be an amazng shaver. Commodore?! Congrats! Are you at Kingston? J/22 is a fun boat, but I don't know anything about an Abbott 22. Let me guess, the Martin is soft right around the chain plates? I've done a couple strip and peel deck jobs before, its not fun. Who ever decided its a good idea to make all these fancy boats from balsa, anyways?

Hope everyone is having a good evening! Feel better Daniel!

Yeah, back in Kingston. An Abbott 22 is essentially a Tanzer with a different deck (increasing headroom in the cabin) and is a weekend cruiser through and through (like a Tanzer it will never go above 4 kts).

Worse, the Martin is soft around the foredeck... extra soft around the downhaul. I think the damage is the result of our mooring arrangements, such that the boats are lined up bow towards the pier, and when stepping onto the boat there is an average of 2-3 feet to the deck (some people prefer jumping on the deck rather than slowly stepping on it).

Morning y'all. Andrew, that sucks about the Martin, too bad you can't stern tie it, it has a nice easy transom for it, but the outboard hung rudder will be trashed in short order!

I dealt with a J/24 that needed about 15ft^2 of core replaced on the foredeck and cockpit floor from a couple of big guys who moved around the boat like a rampaging gorilla! I ended up going in from the bottom on the deck, but I don't think I will do that again. Good luck with your repairs!

Got to work today, no time for the shop this mornin.

Nice, that was breakfast a lot of the time when I was a baker. We just called it gnarly french toast, lol! It is a real meal that way, probably my favorite breakfast.

I looked for some scraps and I only have some red G10, it is that dark SAK red... I see you found some bright red though so that rocks!

I hope you get some shop time in, I had a very productive evening yesterday... lots of good stuff! :D

Afternoon men!

Good afternoon! Or morning depending where you are. I am watching Jade for a minute and will go back to the shop here soon, the KMG awaits!

Glad to see you are feeling better Daniel! I can't seem to wake up this morning.Coffee is helping a little though.Hope all is good for all you good people.Off I go to work. See ya later.

Well no shop time this morning other than polishing up a jewelers hammer I picked up. I ended up having to clean my fish tank, my betta has been behaving listless the past few days and a water test revealed the ammonia levels were getting high, so I quarantined him in some treated water for an hour and did a complete water change and scrub. He seems to be doing a little better already, I would hate to lose him. He's been very ill maybe 4 times in the last year, but came back stronger. He's a prize fighter, proven champion too. Maybe I'll try to get some pics of him to put up.

Interesting on the fishtank, I may be having the same problem. I hope he feels better soon!

Cool you got the hammer, I remember you were looking for one. I have a tiny one I use a lot in the shop.

I just got in from the shop and man I'm tired! I stopped early so I avoid always wearing myself out, lol.

I'm covered in Titanium! It was an eventful day with many small Ti fires to spice things up. :D You guys know what that means, Ti gear soon!
