Morning guys!

Bobby, congrats brother!

Daniel you're killing it dude! That frikky is just awesome! Also, 240mm is a good length. My French chef is 12" blade and sometimes just a little too long, I think a 240 or 260 blade would be about perfect for everything.

Make it great fellas!

Thanks X!

Is that the Chef knife you did the integral style scales on? Something that big makes me think of vintage Sabatier knives, they are cool. The one you worked one is awesome!

You need a clip... I can get you a clip! with polish... :D

Seriously though, if you have anything with that same hole spacing just let me know. I can make you a clip! :)

I carry the Emerson everywhere, it means a lot!

Thanks on the frickie too! More pics soon...

Thank You Daniel, you're awesome brotha! I'll be sure to let you know.

I'm stoked with your "integral layers" on the frickie was done on your old end mill. I can't even imagine what you can do with the new one!:D

No, that was a Henkels Classic 9" chef. My knife is an Old Hickory 12" Chef.

Thanks Ben!

Sloth that video is killer!!! I must make one. I actually have that anvil...

I got in some forging today! W2 steel tanto and it is coming along nicely! even better than I hoped for but it did take me a while! ...and well worth the time! It has distal taper in both directions and feels nice! I forged in the bevels bu left them nice and thick. I'm keeping the forge finished flats I know that! :D It looks so cool...

Definitely keep the forged flats I love the look and for me if your going through all the work I would want people to know it's forged....otherwise it looks like stock removal. Just my .02 cents

Thanks Justin!

I wound up grinding it last night and it's looking good! I took away more of the flats than I wanted, it was tricky grinding a knife that is already tapered! More angle next time to keep the flats, they were looking insane! It still looks killer though and my forging was closer than I thought. :D

I have the fire bricks pile high around the forge and only a 3x3" opening, it was cranking! I built it open to see what 8$ of inswool would do and for flexibility. I triple normalized my W2 and was very pleased that all of my kiln work has given me a good eye for color and the heat involved. It's crazy how fast steel will get to non-magnetic in the forge, maybe a minute or so. After that I shut down the forge with the knife inside and closed it up... by the evening it had just cooled and my W2 was very well annealed! i expected it to be half hard but it milled like butter! (I milled a slot for a Tsukamaki wrap)

More pics and knives up today!

I hope everyone has a great day!!!

Excellent photograph Xander! I meant to say something earlier...

Good morning guys!

No heat treat yesterday, lol I am too slow at getting decent pics! Lots more knives ready to photograph too... :D

Hey X,

Have you ever shot at the Tracy gun range, the relatively new one? I might be staying at my gf's in manteca for a week and may bring some toys to play out there.

Realized that doing my fusions in the furnace, I'm learning to anneal nickel and also get some interesting colors. Metallurgy for noob chemists like me. I should snap pics next time so you guys can see what I do.

Haven't shot there yet, IIRC, it's only 25 yards indoor and anything up to .308 cal.

There is also Manteca Sportsmans Club, they have out to 100 yards range, it's an old place and I haven't been there in a while, but I know they're still around. Another local option is Linden Gun Range. They have out to 200 yards.

Just finishing up lunch, having some leftover lasagna! Always better when it's left over!

Back to work.

Nice! I just tried to anneal a big piece of nickle and it didn't do anything... I might have had my torch too low. Do you heat to red, cool to black then quench?

The Complete Metalsmith by Tim McCreight is a good book... mostly covers just the basics but is helpful.

Hey guys!
