I've been excited!!! :D

Man, that sounds fantastic can't wait to see it! I really dig the tight fit that you were able to achieve this is gonna be epic!!!

Good mornin' y'all.
Liam if you ever get the astrophotography thing going PLEASE post some pics! .....you too X .
Speaking of photos... yoooo hoooo, pics from Daniel! Congrats on the new construction technique!

Same here. We've been looking at equitorial mounted reflectors (easier to motorize later). Orion telescopes has a pretty good range - we're looking at their house brand in the 5-8" newtonian reflector ($300-600, with tripod and mount). Not ideal for astrophotography (Schmidt-Cassegrain or Refractors tend to be better for astro) - but good value, and still some performance. I'll probably just piggy back a camera on the telescope with it's own lenses - to do wide field, tracked shots of nebulae.

I've been looking into Dobsonian scopes simply for the fact that they are easier to build yourself. There is a 2 or 3 day course in SF for building them, it looks like a blast to me! I've also looked into barn door motorized mounts rather than fork type, but the fork type can mount a larger variety of items, including just a camera.

On lunch break, almost time to wander back across the street to work.

Dobsonians are hard to motorize for star tracking - fwiw. They are pretty awesome though. Bang for the buck, there is no other style that gathers as much light for as little money.

^ Rolf that gives Bobby like 84 internet hours to make the knife, I can read a Knifemaking WIP in about 10 minutes so that adds up to about maybe what 30 minutes on a knife? He should have 168 done by my calculations. :D

I worked all day yesterday on folders then I took a break and forged until 9:30 last night! I was only planning on an hour but it took me that long to forge one! :D I startd with maybe 7-8" of .33" thick Aldo's W2 and have a foot long tanto with distal taper, tapered tang, bevels etc. The spine is still as thick as I hoped and the metal is in all the right places!

Folder progress pics later! You guys have a great day!

BTW I have a new Youtube vid up but still can not figure out to embed here. I use the button and all but no luck... it used to work! lol

Sounds cool Daniel, it's like any good ol' hobby where an hour turns into a lot more :p

Hump Day, I been recovering from a bug for over a week but today I feel good. Maybe in n out for lunchies to feel better. Have a good one boys

Thanks Bobby!

I don't know how you did that but I can copy and paste into code, lol!

Here's one I just uploaded...

Good stuff Daniel. I started a little forging myself and man I had the shape drawn up I wanted and what I ended up with looks nothing like it...lol. I'm going to need to upgrade to a atlas burner my torch does ok but I don't think it's quite hot enough. Here are a few pics.

It's alot of fun [emoji3]

Good stuff with the forging, guys! I'm going to see what I can do with my 8x12 Shed as my new work space. I'd love to get a forge setup going. Maybe next year!

So my telescope arrived yesterday and here's all the parts

Ben the telescope is killer! Please keep us posted, awesome pics! I used to use mine every night, they are a blast. I should show you guys these letters I used to get from NASA as a kid. I have a whole drawer of them as I would ask them to send me anything they had! Fun stuff!

Justin that is looking good! The forge and knife looks great!

Get that shop going Bobby!

You guys have a good one!
