Fake PM2

Yep, it's a fake. Look at the letter, it has grammar and spelling errors.

"texturde"

"thanx"

I'm too lazy to pull out the Edgucation Sheet for my PM2 but I've heard before that some of them have typos. Thanx is a well-known glesserism.

BTW, welcome to the forum from the Land of the Okies (I'm really from Texas though).

So I just took the knife to Cabelas and they took it back without a problem. The guy at the counter looked it over and agreed that it was a fake. He also flagged it for their inspectors to check out and I told him to be sure not to put it out for sale.

Good customer service from a good company.

People buy a fake, then they go buy a real item, put the fake in the box and return it. This happened to me on Amazon once. I ordered a Gayle Bradley and got a Gayle Bradley box and papers with...........a tenacious in the box. Somebody got a $140 knife for $40. Lots of scumbags out there.

yes the box looked fake. I just got a fake vallotton from a bum on ebay "SHABSTER310"
On the real vallotton box the strip you can see going through the spyderco spider logo, on the fake you couldn't like yours.

This is the second time I've seen a thread where someone bought a fake PM2 from Cabelas. Wonders what's going on there?

Condolences to the OP on getting a fake knife but congrats and kudos to Cabelas for getting it sorted. Good luck on tracking down the real deal!

When first reading and hearing it was from Cabelas I was thinking there is noway this is going to be fake. After seeing the photos I would have to agree with the crowd here. This PM2 looks fake, the lettering and landyard hole look aweful. sorry about your luck, good luck with the return.

Just checked Cabela's prices on Spydercos. Even with those sale prices, you can find it cheaper at dedicated knife websites. Bladehq, Knifecenter, GPknives to name a few good ones.

Just a suggestion.
If you're buying in person that is at one of those big box stores that's one thing. If you intend to purchase knives online I would recommend trying places like I mentioned first. Wider selections, knowledgeable staff, and more often than not better prices.

Here's the list of BladeForum's paid dealers. It's a good place to start.;)

Yeah, I usually try to buy at smaller sellers like that but I had a bunch of gift cards, and thus, it was easier to have the approval from my better half. You married guys know what I'm talking about...haha.

Knifeworks has a great price on PM2s. I purchased one for $105 shipped and it arrived quickly.

It seems like Spyderco has a bullseye on them. The number of fakes out there is crazy. I wouldn't consider buying any of their models from ebay.:thumbdn:
