Fall Becker East Gathering Pic Thread

Yeah I found that out this morning when I got up. I have to redo the music. That sucks because it was perfect the way it was. :( It will be up in the near future.

Well, I went to AIG's YouTube channel and found this year's video, titled "BK&T's 2013 BIG FALL ADVENTURE!" However, here's what it said when I clicked on the video:

"This video contains content from Warner Chappell and UMG, one or more of whom have blocked it in your country on copyright grounds."

Gus, if it's not blocked in Canada, tell us if we look purty in the moving pictures.

Hey Jordan:
You get an A+ on your Dutch Oven skills. You've got a real knack for it. I've been cooking in one for >2 decades and you've got "it."

Thanks, Doc. I was thoroughly impressed with your knife you made, a well executed handle and a great classic blade shape.

Saturday evening, Ethan and AIG cooked us some excellent chili and cheese grits.

On Sunday morning, the last of the meat went in with the eggs and potatoes for burrito stuffing.

We also cooked up a mess of Benton's bacon and sausage and some sausage from our farm.

There was so much pork grease the spatula caught fire.

We had a good breakfast before hitting the road.

Aside from the food there were all kinds of gear to check out and skills to learn.

AIG had a pretty sweet Mors Pot.

He and Ethan tried it out with Ethan's Emberlit stove.

I think it went home with Trade.

I went off with Chance Sanders, Gutsy and Rolled Edge, and learned a few trap designs,

There was some slingshot shooting going on.

Pointy let me try his slingshot.

On my third try, I pwned this red bull can.

Of course, Ethan's kitchen knives were present.

DSC00630_zps6653b805.jpg

I even managed to bring home some loot.

DSC00637_zps0d5dae6b.jpg

A BK-15 and some Ka-Barleys from Official Ka-Bar (I actually won a BK-9 but traded it to Murph for the 15 as I already have three 9s and was wanting a 15)

Guyon gave everyone a taste of his nuts,

I scored some altoids tins from Ralph TT,

Rolled Edge brought a huge box of assorted medical supplies,

and I bought a book from Trey of Smoky Mountain Bushcraft.

SaturatedShadow did an amazing job on the cinnamon rolls in the dutch oven. They were delicious! (I think my fat self had two of them.)

Breakfast is definitely one of my favorite meals (other favorites are dinner, lunch, brunch, and brinner), so we tended to go a little *overboard* on those. I don't think we started a single meal with less than 5 lbs of meat and anything less than 4 different kinds of meat, but I could be mistaken. The quick prep hashbrowns made things a lot easier, and I think we used two full bags with each meal. The tortillas didn't last too long after Saturday evening, so there were only a few left come Sunday morning, but we still had bread, and that was only if one were so inclined anyways. Tons of different hot sauces, several goodies that Terrio provided, canned by his wonderful wife (and also a really nice salsa!), as well as a huge variety of snacks. One thing can definitely be said about a Becker Gathering, we don't screw around when it comes time to eat! (I think any pictures showing me will illustrate that point rather nicely. As a dear friend once told me, that gut is a life choice. ;) ) All in all, food wise, no rush and no shortage of deliciousness made for some amazing days up on Half Moon Ridge.

Great pics SS!

I know I said it before, but I'm pretty sure that's the only time I've gone camping and actually gained weight :p Angie thanks you all for your kind words about her canned goodies... I hope you realize that will only encourage her to send/bring more next time :D

I think instead of this being a Friday Saturday Sunday(morning) thing, it needs to be a week long event!

Okay I spent more time running up and down the mountain and into town than I did behind the camera, but here are the few pix I have.

Found 1 scorpion, but he wasn't a keeper.

Vik building the first fire Thursday night.

OKC filming some Becker propganda.

Trade loves this stuff.

Doc's a dandy in the kitchen, Trade's an excellent grill supervisor.

The prep cook, Rolled Edge.

I thought the wind was beginning to stir, it was really the trees quivering in fear.

Hey,

you stay classy Beckerheads!

Trade breaking away from Bud Select 55.
