I had passed over the new Pro models quickly because of the price. Now I find myself waiting on your review to see if I should press buy on an S1 Pro.
Can't wait to hear about how it sharpens up with the DC3/4, and how it holds up to use on hardwoods. Is it really an improvement over VG10 that a regular user will notice? Does it lose anything? Looking forward to your experience with it.
Its really too soon to tell, I haven't used it enough yet

I have noticed that it is incredibly responsive to stropping,
no damage from batoning, chopping or carving either and it still held a hair popping edge.
I think your mind would be blown if you love to sharpen knives.
Nice. Thanks for the video. Enjoy your new toy!
Thanks Bro
Thank you for the video. I look forward to updates. Just a question - since it has a micro bevel, could this be sharpened on a Spyderco sharpmaker?
Of course, but the waterstones really open the possiblites to different geometrys
^This is what I'm looking forward to. Have been since the day you posted you ordered one. I'll admit being a little disappointed when clicking on this thread
Your other ones are soooo good!
Wow, Im glad to hear,
they are actually a PITA to write haha
Ill get to it when more time is avalible
ive just been trading time for money haha
Thanks Bro
Very cool so far........thanks much for the preliminary overview
So much more to come my friend, hang in there
I found out about the PRO series of Fallkniven after reading the OP review of the A1 during an outing in the woods. I own an F1 and S1 and always wanted an A1... but for sure it is not going to be a PRO. For the use I give it, the extra wear resistance of the new steel is not mandatory, neither the steel guard... and I certainly think that they stepped the price waaaaaaaaaay too much. Fallkniven in the F1, S1 and A1 models was never a cheap knife, but for what you get (Laminated VG10) I thought it was quite fair... I don't have this feeling with the PRO series.
Looking forward for that review with pictures. It could even change my mind....
Really? when the Pro series was first announced and I saw what it was coming with, I was bummed. I priced it in the ball park of $500 since Fallkniven is notorious for being very high cost.
We are paying a bit of a royalty since they are made in Japan, shipped to Sweden and then imported to America.
But to my surprise its at a reachable price of $330 and is only available from one dealer here in the US
However, I wasn't stoked about the increase in blade thickness and the lower grind.
Upon use though,
I was not disappointed
Fallkniven knows what they are doing.
All the new improvements so far really enhance the standard version.
And if anyone could tell you it would be me
stick around and I'll go into detail.
These reviews are designed for people like yourself that want to know everything.
I've just been too exhausted to share in writing due extra hours at work and side jobs.
Each column block of written post takes an entire day to write with tons of introspection, pondering and articulating.
My brain is too numb currently.
I very much appreciate the interest though.
Soon, soon, soon my friend
Shawn.
