Certainly! thank you for the advice!

I am currently waiting on microtech's response for the legitimacy of the knife, if it is a counterfeit i am going to contact josh.

If he refuses to cooperate i'll get the credit card company involved.

Sound plan??

I think so; anytime I've had issues with a purchase time has been the biggest challenge as most places (ebay for instance) have a time period in which to file a claim. I've lost out on a few items due to being away on vacation, or waiting and thinking it would arrive and then not being able to file a claim.

I see, how long are we speaking anyways? Because i received this knife approximately 15 days ago, contacted josh at about 13 days after receiving the knife

I forget ebay's policy on disputes so you'd have to check there. In my situation I was out of country for a little while so it was just bad timing on my part I think.

Oh, by the way, it was payed for with credit card, not paypal, my mistake

Have your pops contact the credit card company and tell them the problem so they can reverse the charges....if that is what needs to be done.

The sooner the better.

Should i wait fro microtech's verification before i do it?

Yes, the CC company will very likely ask detailed questions about what you have done to resolve the issue with the reseller directly. If you have exhausted that route, and can provide evidence from the manufacturer that you were sold illegitimate goods, you should be on solid ground with the CC company.

What I would do: Get confirmation from the manufacturer that the product is not theirs. Go back to the retailer and tell them what you found, and say that if he doesn't issue a refund, you will file with the CC company to reverse the charge. This alone may motivate the seller to just give your money back and avoid the hassle, because the CC company WILL hassle them. They don't want to be out the $400 any more than you do.

It would not hurt to just call the CC company and explain the situation, to get their feedback of steps you should be taking. Each company probably has their own set of policies. I recently did this with AMEX for some unauthorized charges that had appeared on my account - called them up immediately and started a case. They gave me instructions on what they expected from me. I followed the instructions and called them back. A month later my CC balance was credited.

Good luck.

Awesome i'll do just that once Microtech emails me back! thanks :)

I have bought from Josh at PVK quite a few times, not saying this is real of fake, just saying that I have always been taken care of when buying from him.

FlowVector, here is my 2 cents worth, & it is probably worth a lot more than 2 cents. I called MT at 11:55AM CST & asked if there was such a thing as a Metalmark
Trainer. The lady told me she was unaware of one but I would have to ask one of the salesmen to be sure. She also said she had an e-mail in front of her
asking the same question. I told her if she was going to find out & answer the e-mail then I would do nothing. I decided to call a salesman that I know with
MT and ask him. I left a voice message for a call back which as of now I haven't received.
If you Google "Microtech Metalmark Balisong Trainer" you get nothing. I "think" that when I was 17 it wouldn't take any more than this info. for me to call
the CC company & be done with it. But I'll leave that up to you. If you wait too long, don't blame MT.

^^^^^ This.

Don't wait around for an email. Get on the phone and make it happen. What you'll realize later in life is that nobody is looking to be your advocate. That's your job.

If your dad used a credit card, he can make a fraud claim for you if indeed it is fraudulent. Credit cards are usually awesome for backing up the customer

That E-mail was mine, and i called her literally right after that haha. Thank you for your help :)

I've never dealt with a credit card company before, i'd like to resolve this ASAP, but i am curious as to whether or not i have enough evidence to actually make the CC company help me or not. For all i know it could be a limited production run. I assume if i don't have the supporting evidence it'll be the same issue as waiting too long, coming up dry. That said i don't know for sure because i am extremely new at this.
What kind of timeline do you think i have here?

EDIT: Grammatical errors and missing letters

You've got about 120 days from date of purchase for US to US purchases. If it were me, I'd write Microtech, then call and ask about the item, and if possible ask them to email you a note declaring or disavowing the validity of of the product. That would certainly be enough for the credit card company.

Perfect! i did that this morning.

I E-mailed Microtech last night, this morning i called with the same question. She said she did not know and when someone who did know came in she would ask them. She then asked for my email, i told her it was the E-mail she was currently looking at, next she asked me to send a few photos and i did. We then ended the conversation.

So i guess it is a waiting game then?

As far as I know there is no such thing as a metalmark trainer, and I browse a lot of stuff from microtech.

Also, why would you even think about spending $400 on a trainer when you could get a real aluminum one for half that or a real titanium one for the same price? besides, the metalmark isn't even good for flipping its design is just too awkward for any advanced tricks....but hey it's your money. I think you got jipped, man.

Yeah that seems to be the consensus, also i live in canada so i can't legally get sharp balisongs.

As for why: It was just a really stupid decision on my part.

Let's try to keep to resolving this issue though. Last thing i want is a series of posts criticizing my decision :P

You seem to be a pretty smart fellow for your age. You're asking the right questions, and getting great advice.

You may want to get in contact the CC company before you hear back from them. They will likely tell you the first step to take before they can do anything. You could have the ball rolling by the time you do hear back from MT, and you will know what documentation you may need from them.
Good luck.
