Fans of the Smooth: post your Smooth Bone Traditionals

Boker 8288SS. Gift from my mother in-law. Was an EDC of mine for a decade or so. Shield close to being worn smooth.

Smooth bone is one of my favorite covers. I finally found some time to grab mine for some quick photos. I do have a few pioneer/frontier bone but they are not completely smooth so I did not include them. I think I got them all.

Smooth white bone. Love the "grain" on the Indian River Jack (middle one):

Calico bone (not my favorite):

Blue camel bone (what led me to traditionals):

Giraffe bone:

Some misfits. Yellow camel bone and buffalo bone:

And then combining my favorites with smooth bone and the #25 pattern:

That's a beautiful collection CC! Their varying depth and collision are really something.

May I ask if smooth bone is your focus as a collector, and, what range of years do these knives represent?

No, I wouldn't say smooth bone is my focus... but I tend to buy what I like and so have ended up with quite a few over the few short years that I have been collecting slip joints. I also have quite a few mammoth ivory (and especially if it is blue in color). However, my true addiction is the GEC #25 pattern. (You can check out some of my collection in the thread dedicated to the #25 pattern).

As for the years represented, most of mine are newer as in the last 2 or 3 years. Some of the #25 patterns go back to 2008 but nothing much older than that currently.

CC, just looked at my post again. Didn't mean 'collision', but depth and COLOR LOL. I'll look at the 25 thread.

TKK, great pic. It looks like the bone has got that translucent quality that's really pleasing to me.

Will Power Will Power - would you be happy if a traditional smooth-boned drop-point hunter were included.........or prefer slippies only....?

Paul, ALL manner of Traditional knives welcome here fixed or folding. Very polite of you to ask though:thumbsup: but I don't regard the thread as my domain, a thread progresses changes and takes on new life as it were. If it doesn't it becomes moribund or repetitious....

You have many remarkable knives, so we all look forward to some of your fixed stuff.

Many thanks, Will

- cheers, Will :)

Have a few d-p hunters now, and this one I consider to be 'almost perfect'............perhaps I'd better put my money where my mouth is, and start a thread to explain one day soon
