Fantastic Plastic

By chance was carrying and using this one: Queen Cutlery 'Workhorse Series' Barlow from about 2014. These were working knives with simple garb but very decent F&F unlike most of Queen's late stuff :( Remember it cost 29 USD which included shipping to the EU  Just think how prices have rocketed since then! Just paid for a CASE Xroads Sodbuster 60 USD ( with a reduction coupon) 20 shipping and 18 VAT import tax here.....it'll be a nice knife but it just shows the 'progress ' in just over 10 years.

The Queen Barlow is carbon blade, stainless bolster/spring, brass pins/liners and 'jigged' brown delrin with exposed pivot for ease of tightening. A really good work knife in suitably hardy materials - yet well finished and assembled. Took the car to have the wheels and tyres changed for winter (gone are my days of misery in the cold fumbling around with a jack and laboriously changing the wheels summer to winter, uh uh) The winter tyres-wheels are brand new so they had this thick card packaging and plastic zip ties round the Continental labelling etc. Barlow whipped through the plastic ties while the guy was getting the summer wheels off. Weather is bizarre 8c and no sign of snow or frost till next week but I have a long journey coming up and daren't get caught out with summer gear in the snow.
