Are those the buffed black micarta scales? With gold to bolts?FBFK just arrived! Noting the nice touch of the “gold” behind the makers mark - thanks Team Carothers for another awesome opportunity to own and enjoy your functional art.
Also pictured next to my Creely Folklore Beast Editon, which I guess means I’ve started a “JoeX” collection?!?!

Yessir! Buffed Black and gold bolts. Feels awesome in hand and a beauty to behold. Are those the buffed black micarta scales? With gold to bolts?
If you can believe it, they’re actually buffed! The aesthetic of the canvas juxtaposes with the glassy smoothness and is really cool. The grinds and handles are super in hand, and the “fuzzies” that can be on micarta are completely absent on this one. Those are unbuffed black canvas, right?

Amazing I will need to change my order to gold bolts! Carothers are some of the most beautiful and best built knives! Thank you again to everyone at Carothers Performance Knives!!Yessir! Buffed Black and gold bolts. Feels awesome in hand and a beauty to behold.
I wonder if Jo uses a torch, prior to buffing, to clean off the fuzz on canvas micarta.
No
We use the best micarta in production today,..
Actual OG Westinghouse Micarta was better. And the "International Paper" micarta that followed it was probably just as good as OG Westinghouse. I think. Idunno. But, next to that, modern current production "Accurate Acculam" is the best..
People are a penny wise and a pound foolish sometimes. Thinking they are saving a penny while spending a dime in labor, warranty, or other operational costs with using a lower quality product. Honestly, when thinking about it, it’s actually quite stupid what people do to save a penny while spending that dime.No
We use the best micarta in production today, which is well saturated (with quality resin and no fillers), and we cut it with fresh sharp carbide. It works pretty good.

This is, honestly, not that expensive. It's about twice as expensive as other alternatives but, in the grand scheme of things, it's basically a "rounding error" and I don't understand why it isn't more common, it's an extra couple bucks for the good stuff.

Where does ECAM fall into this assessment? Just curious. No
