Favorite 2017 Purchase?

Considering pretty well all of my current collection was bought this year, I would say that the Bugout is my favorite purchase, even slightly beating out my 940 -2. However, I have an all black PM2 and an all black Para 3 coming so that might change.

I'm scared to total the number of knives that I got in 2017, but I did sell a lot too. By far my favorite acquisition of 2017 was my Shirogorov Hati. I finally broke down and bought one, and I am thrilled I did, since getting it in August/September (I can't remember) I still carry it nearly everyday. Lately my honeymoon phase with my new knives doesn't last more than a few days.

I bought way too many knives this year! Most I am truly in love with, and fortunately only one was a dud (fine blade, just not to my liking). I reserve the right to change my mind on this issue without warning!

First and foremost, tanto Umnumzaan. It was an impulse purchase from a FANTASTIC seller on the Exchange.

Second is a blacked out Spyderco Southard. I coulden’t have afforded it without the discontinuation sale, which makes it even sweeter (and my brown/stonewash model was lonely for a sibling;)).

CZ P01?

A year in review.... My favorite is a TA Davison folder I bought at a knife show. I purchased nine knives this year and I don't see that number changing between now and Jan. 1st. Usually buy a Christmas knife for myself, but not going to this year. Of the nine knives, six were GEC traditionals. My two favorites are the TA Davison and the Steel Will Cutjack C22M in M390 steel. Third place is the GEC #48 Improved Trapper with antique amber jigged bone scales. The big difference between 2016 and 2017 beyond the number of knives (being significantly fewer in 2017) is that I did not buy any Condor blades. I usually buy a couple to try out.

CZ P-01 indeed!

I just dropped in a CGW short reset system, type 2 disco, and reduced power trigger spring. I’m very pleased with the results! Shoot me a DM if you’re curious (pun intended).

Tough call. I didn't buy a whole lot of knives last year, it was mostly a gun year. This year I bought piles of both, as it turns out. Assuming I'm remembering what I bought when correctly, I bought a couple of dozen knives this year. These are my favorites of the bunch:

If I had to pick the prettiest, it's the Buck 197 hands down for me. That said, these are the ones I carried most:

I'm not sure I can narrow it down much further. That Benchmade has rapidly become my favorite Benchmade model of all time (eclipsing even my favorite slim and light trio of the 707/940/710). It's everything that was good about the 530, but better in all the ways the 530 had issues (blade shape, handle flimsiness, etcetera).

Prominently not featured are three of the four customs I bought this year, all of which were huge disappointments. That Jason Clark above is the only custom I had any success with at all, really.

Generally speaking, this year I had much better luck with Olamic and CKF knives than I did with expensive customs.
